Intellicig Evolution E Cigarette

We searched around the Intellicig website and decided to buy their entry level Start Kit.

Intellicig still use the 3 piece design (that we haven’t had the best experience with in the past) that many other electronic cigarette companies have moved away from so we were interested to see how their offering performed.

In The Box / Presentation

intellicig e cigarette reviewThe Intellicig Starter Kit is different straight away in that the packaging consists of two fold out card cases that contain the e cigarette and cartridges separately.

All nicely branded and designed but looks on the cheap side.

In the packaging you will find:

1 Battery
5 Cartridges
1 Atomiser
1 USB charger

Battery/Responsiveness

intellicig evolution reviewThe Intellicig kit comes with just the one battery which isn’t ideal for starter kits especially if they don’t come with a PCC (portable charging case).

The battery build itself is OK with a smooth to touch clean white finish but it just doesn’t feel as solid as other batteries out there.

When it came down to the performance though there were no problems, the battery was pretty reactive to my drags although on occasion I was finding myself having to take harder draws to get things flowing.

What is a must for me with this particular kit, or any other for that matter that comes with only one battery, is to buy a spare as soon as you are sure the brand is right for you. Two or even three batteries are a must so you always have at least one on the go at all times, if not you could find yourself slipping back to the cigarettes!

intellicig review

Intellicig do actually sell a kit called the Intellicig XC which comes with two batteries, a PCC and 10 re-fills but is topping the more expensive side of things.

Overall 3/5– The battery life is not fantastic but this is to be expected with the size, the build quality wasn’t the best I have seen but it was responsive to each draw although I had to draw a little heavier on occasion. The downside to this particular kit is that it only comes with one battery, buying a spare is a must!

Vapour/Flavour

This Evolution starter kit comes with 5 cartridges and one atomiser. The setup is known as a 3 piece kit meaning there are 3 components, the battery, atomiser and cartridge. Many other brands have moved on from the 3 piece kits now onto the 2 piece which is basically just a battery and a cartomiser (atomiser and cartridge in one).

intellicig ecopure cartridgesThere are plus and minus points for both of these options but my personal preference for mini e cigarettes is for a two piece with the only difference to this being if the e cig has a tank system.

This is something else though, I don’t want to confuse things too much here!

The cartridges I received were 10mg nicotine strength and come packed in foil sealed packaging which is a definite plus point. As well as this it is also reassuring that there is an ‘EXP’ date on the pack that shows how long you have to use them, this is a great feature to have.

Intellicig are also very proud of the fact that they produce their e-liquid, known as ECOpure in the UK to medical standards and tested by a UK university.

Their refills come in 3 flavours, Regular – This is for the mainstream tobacco smokers, Rich – Provides a fuller tobacco flavour and Menthol. These are also all available in 0mg up to 15mg nicotine strength.

intellicig atomiser cartridgeIntellicig sell the re-fills in packs quantities starting at 10

This might seem good value compared to other brands but keep in mind they have a smaller capacity so will not last as long as some cartomisers.

As mentioned before though the added bonus is that they do appear to produce their e-liquids to a high standard and know exactly what goes into the cartridges.

I was vaping the Regular 10mg and found the flavour to be very good, definitely one of the better ones I have tried. Their e-liquid is also produced with VG rather than PG which also gives of great amounts of vapour although it has been known that VG does get used up a lot quicker than it’s PG counterpart. The throat hit for me was also good.

Overall 4/5– The fact they produce their own e-liquid will definitely be a plus point for many, I also liked the flavour of their regular flavour ECOpure refills and the amount of vapour they produced. The only downside for me is the three piece setup and that the cartridges do feel cheap.

Customer Service

Intellicig can be contacted by freephone UK number and email. I found them to be responsive through email so no problems for me on this front.

Overall

I was initially disappointed with the Intellicig mainly due to the build quality and the 3 piece design. I also think their kit prices are a little on the high side especially when this is taken into account.

There were definitely positives for the kit though and this came in the form of their e-liquid. It is for sure a very good thing that they are able to control what they are putting out there and have the reports to back this up.

The ECOpure re-fills also do a good job when it comes to the tobacco flavour. One thing for sure is there are not many brands that can offer this level of transparency with their e-liquid.

If it wasn’t for their e-liquid though I don’t think I would be recommending the Intellicig as the ‘hardware’ for me was just a little too dated with the 3 piece and even felt a little on the cheap side.

Having said that. if this was your first electronic cigarette then this probably wouldn’t be a massive issue.

What I will be doing is buying more of their e-liquid to try out but will be using this in (what I see as) better quality components from the likes of the Vapour2 Cigs and the Epuffer Magnum Snaps kit.

  1. Despite having smoked for over 40 years, I am still highly sensitive to the smell of tobacco, which is repulsive when stale. Now I can enjoy my ‘fix’ indoors, anytime, anywhere. AND my voice is losing its smoker’s husk, even after only 3 days’ usage of the IntelliCig. I’d smoked mentholated cigarettes throughout, and find the I|ntelliCig version just as satisfying and a whole lot less smelly and ill-tasting. Am totally converted.

  2. I was smoking for about 17 years. For most of this time I used to smoke a pipe, switched over to rollies for the compromise between taste and convenience.
I have tried e-cig first time around 2007, but it felt like inhaling air and I quickly discarded it as another bogus quit smoking device. But recently I moved to a new place and I have no possibility to go out to the garden for a quick fag. And I absolutely hate smoking indoors, especially in the same place where I sleep. So I decided to get some e-cig to provide me with some nicotine fix whilst I’m at home and Keep smoking when I’m out and about.

I did absolutely no research on e-cigs. I just got on e-bay and bought the first rechargeable device I found there, which happened to be Intellicig starter kit. That was about two weeks ago.

    Results:
    1. As a former pipe smoker I’m quite picky when it comes to the flavour of the things I smoke. Cartomizers supplied with the starting kit were of Intellicig Regular variety and proved to be surprisingly OK. Now I’m waiting for the refills of Rich variety and I’m really looking forward to receiving them and also testing various other liquids.
    2. After I tried e-cigarette, I found it difficult to have a traditional fag. I started noticing how unpleasant that all tar can be for the taste buds. I prefer to vape over smoking anytime.

    Opinion about the product.
    1. Build quality: no issues so far. Nothing falls apart. The charger could be a bit more solid, the socket you connect the battery to feels a bit wobbly.
    2. Battery life: It’s OK, one battery I have lasts me for a day. I vape on my way to work, during my lunch break and on my way back home and then every now at then whilst at home, so I’m not a heavy vaper. The battery supplies constant charge from the moment it’s fully charge to the last puff.
    3. Value for money: I think that Intellicig should add another battery to their starting kit. One battery is a misunderstanding. There always comes that moment when the LED starts blinking, you have to put it into charger and not having the ability to start using another one is frustrating. You end up reaching for a cigarette and smoking…
Personally I would also prefer to have e-liquid and refill tanks in the starting kit. Now they are selling you cartomizers plus battery and it’s probably easier for people who never tried e-cigs before.
    4. General feel: I have to say I’m not a fan of e-cigs looking like cigarettes and I’m not also keen of cannon-sized e-cigs. Intellicig helped me to actually specify what I’m looking for. Sadly, nobody makes what I want (very long, very slim, rechargeable and refillable devices without silly glowing LED at the end). Intellicig looks reasonably OK, but I wouldn’t say no to something more stylish. As for the device itself, it could have a bit more luxurious finish.
But it seems I will have to wait for the moment e-cig companies start thinking about their products in a different way.
5: Overall opinion: Very good device for all who would like to stop smoking, good build quality, portable, decent battery life and very good flavour. I can definitely recommend it, but my advice is: get a spare battery, e-liquid and refills.

  3. Fantastic product most realistic smoking product I have tried great hit great vapour poor battery life poor cartridge life but I haven’t smoked in 5 weeks . But will I still be smoking intillicig in 5 years time?

  4. I had been a smoker for 19 years and tried everything to cut down. I have tried a few brands of ecigs but I never got on with the taste of them. My friend let me try his intellicig and i was very impressed. He has the rich flavour which was a sweet tasting tobacco flavour.

I made my purchase and received my starter kit the following day ! ! Postage was very fast by the way. After spending a few minutes putting it together i started to use it. I went for the rich 15mg and wow I will never smoke again.

The cartridges did not last longer enough though so it is best to purchase some extra ones.

Intellicig have been very good to me and they have always helped with any questions. I know they are a bit on the expensive side but it is a company you can trust to deliver on quality. I was reading that they produce their e-liquid ecopure to a medical standard which is very impressive as no other company has so far.

I can highly recommend Intellicig as the number once choice for electric cigs. They get my vote
