Litejoy LJ Pro 1 PCC

Litejoy are a fairly new brand to the UK supplying a range of e cigarettes for the beginner to intermediate customer.

The e cig starter kit I was sent for review is their top end beginners e cig offering, the Litejoy LJ Pro 1 PCC.

This kit was sent to ecigclick free of charge for the purposes of this review. As always we will give our honest opinion on this product.

Litejoy Review

In the box / Presentation

The LJ Pro 1 comes in a tidy cardboard presentation box that contains the following:

  • 2 x Rechargeable batteries
  • 1 PCC (Portable Charging Case)
  • 4 x Cartomisers
  • USB Charging cable

Battery/Responsiveness

The first thing I noticed with the Litejoy kit is the battery design. Instead of going down the usual route of making their e cig look identical to a cigarette they have a raised black embossed swirl design that sits on top of a black base. While maybe not to my particular tastes it’s not offensive so I didn’t personally find it an issue when using out and about.

If this is going to be your first time using an e cigarette one thing to keep in mind is the size of the e cig battery and whether it will fit in with your smoking habits.

Litejoy have gone for a fairly small design and while this will fit into the needs of light smokers, like other similar sized e cigs, it isn’t going to allow for prolonged periods of use.

PCC

Litejoy PCCThis is where the addition of the portable charging case (PCC for short) comes into play, this little box allows you to charge the batteries while on the move.

There are also other e cig kits that supply PCC’s but this is the first of this type I have come across.

The Litejoy PCC is similar in size to a 20 pack of cigs and finished in a rubberised coating that is really nice to the touch. Internally there are four slots to carry spare cartomisers and two charging slots.

On the front is an LCD display that is simple to use, press once (without the battery inside) and the display will show you the remaining charge of the PCC. Insert a battery to charge, press the button and this will display the progress and capacity of the current battery. It’s all very easy to use and understand.

As I mentioned before the kit does differ from the others I have seen and there are two reasons for this. The first is that there are two e cig battery charging slots where most have only one. This is a good feature that obviously allows both batteries to be charged simultaneously.

The second is that the PCC itself has a removable/replaceable battery. This is a great feature as it means when the battery does begin to die, as it does with all battery powered devices, the whole case doesn’t need to be replaced, just the battery. It also presents the opportunity to carry a spare PCC battery so you can extend the life of the PCC when you are away from a power source.LJ Pro 1

There is one big issue with this however, Litejoy (at the time of writing) do not sell these spare batteries. Now I’m sure the battery is easy to get hold of elsewhere but for 100% reliability and compatibility it would be good to see them available in the Litejoy store. This would add life to the PCC as well as give an option to carry a spare PCC battery around when out and about.

So back to the battery and the performance itself

The battery works well and is reactive as it should be. The way I use the the e cig is to take the drags I need to satisfy my needs then place the battery back into the PCC charging slot, this way the battery is always charging and ready, of course this means taking the cartomiser off and on regularly so may be a pain for some.

Also this isn’t necessarily the best practice for battery use, many would advise to run the battery down and then recharge fully. This of course is the ideal way to use batteries to prolong their life but I suppose it depends what suits you, the way I do it fits in well with the way I would use the e cig and PCC together.

When it comes to replacement batteries Litejoy sell batteries on there own or in packs of 5 at a reduced price. So very good value overall. As mentioned before it would be nice to see batteries for the PCC made available.

Overall – The Litejoy LJ Pro 1 battery isn’t to everyones taste but fair play to them for trying to introduce something a little different to this crowded market. The PCC itself is good, the two slots for charging are a good feature as is the replaceable battery in the PCC. The only disappointment here is that Litejoy don’t seem to sell these batteries on their website.

Vapour / Flavour

The LJ Pro 1 comes as standard with four tobacco flavoured cartomisers in a medium 1.8% nicotine strength. It would be nice to see a mixed nicotine strength option as standard or even a mixed flavour selection. Nevertheless, you will soon discover what strength will suit you and they have different options available that we will cover at the end of this section.

Litejoy Electronic CigaretteAs for the tobacco flavour, it wasn’t really to my tastes, that doesn’t mean it is not ‘vapeable’, it is, but having tried hundreds of flavours over the past few years it didn’t really do it for me. Taste is of course a personal preference though so keep that in mind.

As for the actual vape, the vapour production was decent as was the the throat hit from the 1.8% nicotine strength. What you will find is generally the higher the nicotine content the stronger the throat hit will be.

They do offer other cartomiser flavours including Apple, Menthol, Peach, Vanilla, Cherry and Coffee, these are available in packs of five or packs of two with two nicotine strengths. They also offer a mixed flavour ‘taster pack’ that I would recommend if you want to get an idea of the different flavours on offer. The tobacco flavours are available in zero, low, medium and high nicotine strengths so something for everyone there.

The main issue I have with the Litejoy refills is the claim that each cartomiser is equivalent to 40 cigarettes, I think they work this out on the basis that 10 drags on an e cig equals one cigarette. This is something many brands do and it’s misleading, there are far too many variables to present info like this as fact. All I can do is advise you take info like this from any company with a pinch of salt.

The only real positive i can take from the cartomisers is that Litejoy have sensibly made blank/empty cartomisers available. This basically means you can refill yourself with bottled e-liquid (which they also sell), this can work out cheaper in the long run and I would recommend anyone goes down this route.

Overall

This area was a touch disappointing overall for me. I didn’t like the tobacco flavour (this is a personal preference though), the cartomiser refills are expensive compared to competing brands and the ’40 cigarette’ equivalent claim is difficult to confirm as fact so can be quite misleading to new e cig users.

Overall Litejoy Verdict – If you skipped through everything!

The Litejoy LJ Pro 1was a mixed bag for me. The positives were the charging case design that allowed for the charge of two batteries simultaneously and the replaceable battery in the PCC itself. The overall build of the e cig is very good as well although the swirl battery design may not be to everyones taste.

The downside for me comes in the form of the cartomiser refills, while the throat hit and vapour volume were OK, the tobacco flavour wasn’t the best (for my tastes) and the ’40 cigarette’ cartomiser equivalency claim shouldn’t, in my opinion, be relied on to be accurate. Add to this the cartomiser prices are higher than similar brands it is all a touch on the disappointing side.

So would I recommend this? If you were to use the pre-filled refills I would be hesitant to recommend this kit as there are better options, both in value and flavour, available.

If however you were to buy this kit and purchase the empty/blank cartomisers to refill with your own e-liquid then this would be a decent option for those that want a small e cig paired with a PCC.
