The Lost Vape Cyborg Quest 100w kit review and is this yet another winner from a classy team?

When it comes to single battery, 21700 mainstream, affordable devices, I think Lost Vape.

Lost Vape Cyborg Quest kit review

Now I’m not one to praise a company too highly, in fact I sometimes prefer to be cheeky and perhaps a little bit of a troll and spend all my time highlighting the negatives.

But when it comes to Single 21700 devices by Lost Vape – it’s difficult to do so.

To name a few, the Lost Vape Grus is both affordable and high quality.

Sure there were a few minor power issues with the original Grus, which they quickly updated and following on from that we had the Ursa which was similar, but perhaps a little more robust and was also able to switch from 510 connection to Pod Mod.

More recently, Lost Vape released the Hyperion DNA100C device which was literally the first robust, waterproof DNA100C mod that performed beautifully and was excellently constructed.

Oh and to top it all off, Lost Vape has included the UB Pro Pod-Tank.

Yes, a pod tank, but its a good one and vapes really well and I ploughed through a handful of the 0.15 UB Pro P1 coils when I got the tank with the Lost Vape Thelema Quest kit.

So yeah – let’s go through the bits and bobs.

What Can We Expect From the Lost Vape Cyborg Quest Kit?

UB Pro Pod-Tank aside, the Lost Vape Cyborg Quest makes use of the Quest 2.0 chipset, has a bright colourful screen and can fire up to 100 watts.

The Cyborg is constructed from Zinc-Alloy and may look a little weird, as well as having the awkward screw-in battery cap, but the device has all the right features including 5 Power modes and a 2-Amp USB-C charge.

Lost Vape Cyborg Quest reviewed

The UB Pro Pod-tank will be limited to 2.0ml in capacity thanks to the TPD regulations.

But if you’re lucky, or you managed to get the horrendous bung out, you’ll enjoy 5.0ml in capacity along with adjustable airflow and a fairly easy filling port.

Lost Vape Cyborg Quest

Colours

There are only three available body colours with the Cyborg mod, Stainless Steel, gunmetal and Matt black.

But there are different tube styles available including Carbon Fibre, brushed and some weird patterned effect which differs depending on which colour you choose.

Lost Vape Cyborg Quest colours

Plenty of choice, as long as you like black, gunmetal or silver.

Design and Build Quality

I received the Full Gunmetal variant of the Cyborg Quest 100w which comes with a Black UB Pro Pod Tank.

The UB Pro Tank

Drip Tip

The slightly domed shaped 810 drip tip is removable, fairly thin but comfortable.

Lost Vape Cyborg Quest drip tip

You’re welcome to replace the drip tip with your own, as long as your preferred drip tip includes its own O-rings.

Fill Port:

Near the top of the tank, just to one side, is a silicon bung which once opened to one side, reveals a fairly small fill port, but its big enough for most of you usual size bottle tips.

Lost Vape Cyborg Quest filling

Obviously to fill to the top, you’ll have to tip the tank to one side, but generally I’ve had no problems filling.

The Base:

The Pod Tank base has a threaded top which means the tank itself will screw into the base and the base is also responsible for controlling your airflow.

Lost Vape Cyborg Quest base

The triple airflow slots are a nice size, and the airflow control ring has no stopper, so it spins and spins, but the resistance of the AFC is nice and smooth.

Tank – Overall:

I know a lot of people aren’t fans of Pod-Tanks, but this one is well constructed, looks fairly smart and the pod itself isn’t too smoked meaning most of the time you can see your e-liquid level quite comfortably.

I have a feeling there is a clear tank available as well – but I might be wrong.

The Lost Vape Cyborg Quest 100w Mod:

510 Connector:

Like most of the Lost Vape 21700 mods, the Cyborg has a massive 36mm diameter meaning you can stick the majority of atomisers on here without any overhang.

Only something like the Steam Crave Titan V2 may give you a little overhang.

The 510 pin itself is nicely spring loaded with a decent amount of throw to it.

USB-C Port:

Near the bottom of the ‘face’ of the device is the USB-C charge port.

As always, I recommend you charge batteries on a proper external battery charger however if you get caught short, the 2 Amp charge will get you by and charges pretty quickly.

The device does get a little on the warm side if you have to charge internally. Just keep that in mind.

The Front of the Lost Vape Cyborg Mod

The square fire button with rounded edges is slightly protruding and has a nice clicky feel, below that, the TFT colour display is fairly bright and very clear.

There’s a fair amount of information on the main screen but its all readable and nicely laid out.

The three buttons below the display are obviously your up and down button but in Lost Vape style, the middle button is almost like an ‘Enter’ button, meaning less clicking of the fire button to scroll through menu’s.

Lost Vape Cyborg Quest Battery Door

And again we have another screw-in battery door.

These threaded types aren’t always necessary, but for this device I suppose it is.

Regardless, the battery door is well made, works fine, threaded nicely with no battery rattle.

The battery door also sits slightly recessed when threaded into place, meaning the polished battery door doesn’t get scratched, but just the base of the device.

Externals:

Lets get the gripe out of the way. The device looks like it’ll fall over.

The shape of the device is a little odd, some would say ugly, I think its looks alright!

The front of the device sticks out like a big nose on a small head and tapers near the base meaning the device looks like it could easily fall over.

To be fair, due to the weight of the device, it isn’t actually top heavy. The majority of the weight is kind of centred, so it doesn’t exactly topple over that easily.

The Cyborg Quest 100w Mod – Overall:

The Cyborg mod is unusual, but not impractical.

Although the design may not be for everyone, that doesn’t mean its not well constructed or well designed.

Considering the top-heavy look, its fairly stable and is really well made.

The Lost Vape Cyborg Quest In the Hand

Surprisingly, the Lost Vape Cyborg Quest mod is pretty nice in the hand, specifically as a thumb firer with your fingers wrapped around the barrel shaped side of the device.

The Cyborg mod is similar in size to the Grus and the Ursa but what really surprised me was the weight of the device, it’s pretty heavy.

Heavy isn’t always bad, it feel solid, well made and I’m pretty sure I could smash one of Elon Musk’s Truck windows with this thing. Chuck in a 21700 battery and this really is a weighty bit of kit.

But I like that about a device, and its certainly in keeping with Lost Vapes’ reputation for well made devices.

How To Fill The Lost Vape UB Pro Pod Tank

  1. Carefully open the silicon bung
  2. Fill with your desired e-liquid
  3. Re-fit the bung
  4. Allow the e-liquid to saturate the coil for approx 5mins.

Little bit of advice, if you’re fitting a new coil, you may want to consider priming the coil by dropping a few drops of e-liquid onto the cotton in the coil, before installing.

Secondly, with new coils, I recommend vaping the coil below the recommended wattage at first, starting around 20 watts less than the recommended for the first 5-10 putts, and slowly increasing the wattage to your preferred.

This allows the coil to bed in properly, the e-liquid to warm up around the coil and really soak in nicely.

The UB Pro Coils

The UB Pro Pod Tank, makes use of the UB Pro coils surprisingly enough.

The coils in the kit are the P1 which has a 0.15Ω resistance, its a Ni80 Mesh coil and is recommended between 70 and 90 watts.

The P3 is a 0.30Ω SS904L Mesh coil that is recommended between 60 and 70 watts, 260-290c and 500-550f.

How Does the Lost Vape Cyborg Quest 100w Kit perform?

The Quest 2.0 chipset is Lost Vapes latest chipset and they’ve been making good use of this chip since the beginning of 2021.

The colour display is fairly simple to navigate and has a fair few features.

Lost Vape Cyborg Quest Basic Operation

Front screen shows:

  • Wattage/Power setting
  • Battery life and percentage
  • Set Wattage/Voltage
  • Coil Resistance
  • Power Mode (Hard, Normal/Soft)
  • Puff Count
  • Settings Tab

Lost Vape Cyborg Quest Menu

There’s a small number of button sequences to remember to operate this device:

  • 5 clicks of the fire button will turn the device on and off.
  • Up button will adjust power/scroll through options
  • Down button will adjust power/scroll through options
  • Middle button will highlight options, which can then be scrolled through with up/down buttons.

Lost Vape Cyborg Quest Main Settings

Once you’re into the main settings tab, you have the option to find more info on your set power mode, adjust brightness, change the screen colour, browse your user set programmes, reset the device and also find out your chipsets version.

Flavour and Clouds

For the duration of my testing, I was vaping on anything that was High VG.

But mostly, my usual Code Red by Darkstar which I make to 80VG 20PG.

When it comes to airflow, I went through an interesting thing with the UB Pro Pod Tank.

At first I spent my time adjusting and fiddling, trying to find the right restriction.

In the end, I found it most comfortable for me, all the way open, allowing the triple airflow slots to suck in as much air as possible.

The  0.15Ω UB Pro P1 Coil (70-90w)

I’ve gone through quite a fair few of these coils in the past, and to be frank, they’re one of my favourite coils.

For flavour firstly they’re very good. Nice rich sweet flavour at 70 watts and I’ve been happy at that wattage. At 80 or 90 watts, it feels a little too much.

Granted at 70 watts the vape is a little cool, but the flavour is excellent and seeing as this is a single 21700 device, battery life comes well into effect once you get into the 80+ watts range.

The  0.03Ω UB Pro P3 Coil (60-70w)

I don’t quite agree with the recommended wattage of the P3 coil.

I feel any more than 60 watts and it starts to struggle, especially with High VG e-liquids.

Now that may change with more runny e-liquids but I just think its comes down to the fact the mesh drinks so much e-liquid, just like the 0.15Ω P1 coil. So I wouldn’t recommend going above 65 watts if you want a trust worthy coil.

Anyway – the 0.3Ω P3 coil is a cool vape at 60 watts, but the flavour is good. It doesn’t quite match up with the 0.15Ω P1 coil, but its a good performer.

Lost Vape Cyborg Quest Battery Life

As always, battery life will always depend on how much you vape and your set wattage.

As a guide, I’ve found the Lost Vape Cyborg Quest mod will manage a fair 250-300 puffs at 70 watts before you will have to put the battery on charge.

Pros

Lost Vape Cyborg Quest Mod

  • Extremely solid
  • Feels robust
  • Easy to navigate
  • Can fit massive atomiser on top

Cons

Final Review Verdict

The Lost Vape Cyborg Quest 100w kit isn’t an upgrade from the Grus or the Ursa, but an alternative.

Something that looks a little different but still offers all the positive features of both their other recent single 21700 devices.

It may not have the durability of the Hyperion device, but for what it is, its close.

The UB Pro Pod Tank is as close to a typical sub-ohm tank you can get, without actually being a typical sub-ohm tank.

So the 3 big questions I ask when testing a product are:

Would this device be long lasting and still work 3, 6 or even 12 months from now?

I have my concerns over the durability of the UB Pro Pod-tank, but the Cyborg is a beast and will be solid well into 2022.

Unless you decide to use it as a hammer.

Does this device deliver the flavour, vapour and general experience I require, in order to be enjoyed?

I really enjoy the vape experience from the UB Pro Pod tank.

The device itself is simple to use. It may be a little on the heavy side, not great in your pocket if you decide to go for a run in the park. But it looks pretty mad and performs well.

Is the Lost Vape Cyborg Quest 100w Kit be versatile enough to suit a new and experienced vapers?

Clearly this kit isn’t for the new vaper.

Well maybe, but doubtful. This kit is for a vaper who perhaps enjoys Lost Vape products or just needs a new, fairly robust day to day device, and doesn’t mind it looking a little nutty.

Is the Lost Vape Cyborg Quest mod or kit on your shopping list?

Or are you already using it?

Hey Folks. Im Gaz, The Flat-cap Vaper. I’m 35, married with 3 kids and I just love Flatcap's and Vaping! I started my e-cigarette journey in 2014 when I entered my local vape shop and got so well looked after, I ditched my 10 year habit of 15 roll-ups a day within 48hrs. Following on from this, my Vaping journey began. I started a Youtube Channel at the beginning of 2019 and so far has had over 500,000+ views. I quickly upgraded my device and that’s when my geeky side took over and I began to experiment with making my own liquid, building my own coils and even my own mods! As a trained electrician I suppose ohms, wattage and voltage runs through my veins so Vaping has become my hobby and a passion that I want to share with everyone.

lost-vape-cyborg-quest-reviewThe Cyborg isn't for everyone. Some may say its ugly, or top heavy. I know that's what I said when I first saw it. But at the end of the day, it performs well, is trustworthy and built solid. So it might be worth a shot.
