The Sense Orbit Baby is one of the latest POD/AIO kits from Sense and is an MTL device using mesh coils.

It’s a tiny device with just two power settings, and no buttons – so an interesting way to change power, which we’ll of course get into.

Sense Orbit Baby review

Sense Technology Co. Ltd are based out of Shenzhen China, they have a number of products out there, the Sense Screen Tank, The Sense Blazer Mini tank and the Sense Orbit Pod system to name just a few.

You may find it difficult to find some of their products in brick and mortar stores but they are readily available in a number of online stores.

What Can We Expect From The Sense Orbit Baby?

The Orbit Baby is draw activated vape device that uses replaceable stock mesh coils placed into a 2ml capacity pod.

This is a small device that completely fits in the palm of your hand so it is easily kept in your pocket, or you can attach it to a lanyard using the lanyard holes on the top corner of the device.

Zinc Alloy and PC construction, available in 6 colours/designs.

It comes with one refillable pod and a couple of 1.0ohm coils.

Design and Build Quality

This is a small quite stylish design; the zinc alloy and PC construction is smooth in the hand.

It’s also easily hidden in the hand, pocket, or lanyard for a stealth setup.

The Sense Orbit Baby is aimed at new vapers and existing vapers looking for something easy while they are on the go.

Sense Orbit Baby in hand

The build quality is excellent, no rattles no matter how much you shake it.

The pod inserts snugly into the main device and you have no fear of it falling out.

There is a slice of the clear pod left visible when inserted into the device to give easy visibility of what juice is remaining in the pod.

The USB charge port is located on the side of the device with a small LED above it.

The LED will light up when on charge or the device is in use.

One small issue with the design, the base of the device is curved, it will stand upright on a desk but will fall over with the slightest bump so don’t leave it near the edge.

Fire Button | Airflow

There is no fire button on this device, this is purely a pull to activate vape.

As I mentioned earlier, there are two power settings with the device.

With no power button, the power is changed by taking 5 quick puffs from the device, the LED will flash after this, white for normal power and green for high power.

The airflow itself is quite airy, a bit too airy for my personal preference and would be comparable to a very light cigarette, somewhat like a Silk Cut…remember those!

The airflow is not adjustable, although it is quite open, the flavour is still there.

The Sense Orbit Baby Coils

The Sense Orbit Baby comes supplied with two 1.0ohm Orbit XS mesh coils, please note that neither of these come preinstalled, so make sure and fit one before you put juice in the pod.

pod and coil separate

So, let’s start off with fitting one of the coils into the pod.

This is very easy to do, firstly pull the pod from the device, take the coil and insert it into the bottom of the pod, no screwing necessary, just give it a good firm press.

One thing I would say, you will see that the coil is held in place by the O rings, make sure the bottom O ring is seated properly in the pod, no bends or twists.

You might need to take it out and replace a couple of times to get the O ring to sit right, you don’t want to risk any leaks.

We will go over filling the pod in the next section.

With priming the coils, I only filled the pod and left it for about 8 minutes.

The coils are quite small so priming them by placing a drop of juice on the cotton holes and one down the main chimney isn’t necessary, as long as you leave it for a bit to soak.

If you do place some down the middle of the coil, I would recommend a single drop, again, it is a small coil and you risk getting that irritating gurgling flooding noise with you first several vapes.

Sense Orbit Baby XS Coils

The coils themselves perform very well, I have used the same coil for two weeks now without any performance degradation.

I did swap the coil for a couple of days trying different flavours but I always reverted back to the first coil to test its sustainability.

How To Change The Sense Orbit Baby Coil

Replacing the coil couldn’t be simpler, although, if your pod is full of juice, you are going to have some spillage:

Sense Orbit Baby inserting coil

  • Simply pull out the pod from the mod
  • Pull out the old coil
  • Push in the new coil, making sure bottom O ring remains straight
  • Fill pod with juice and pop the pod back into the device.

straight O ring

That’s it, once filled and primed for 5 to 10 minutes, you are good to go.

How to fill the Sense Orbit Baby

It is very simple:

  • Pull out the pod from the device
  • Hold the pod upside down and open the rubber bung, it is attached to the pod so you don’t have to worry about dropping it
  • Fill with your preferred juice
  • Place the rubber bung back into the hole firmly
  • Place the pod back into the device and leave to stand for 5 to 10 minutes before vaping to allow the e-liquid to soak through coil.

How to fill the Sense Orbit Baby pod with juice

Sense recommend waiting 5 minutes after each refill, I had never let the pod run completely dry so I didn’t have any issues vaping straight after a refill.

How Does The Sense Orbit Baby Perform?

Lets get into the coils and filling the pod in a wee second, I just want to note that there is a 4 second cut off mid draw while vaping, this is a safety feature to stop it from overheating.

This can be a little irritating on some devices, but it doesn’t take too much away from the vape, probably one of the benefits with it being so airy.

I myself like to take long draws, normally around the 6 plus second mark, in the case of the Sense Orbit Baby, it was cutting off literally a second before I finished each pull.

Juice window

Flavour and Vapour Production

I use the same juices in all reviews to keep the scoring consistent.

The juices used were: Pure Mist 50/50 VG/PG – Vampire Vape Pinkman 60/40 VG/PG and Excision Harambe 70/30 VG/PG

All juice was tried on two power levels.

With the Pure mist, which contains standard nicotine, I didn’t find any difference between the normal and strong power settings.

There was flavour there but it wasn’t a wow factor, pretty average to be honest: 5 out of 10.

The Vampire Vape Pinkman, which is a nic salt juice, a big improvement on flavour, again, not picking up much difference between the normal and strong but either way the flavour is good: 8 out of 10.

The flavour from the Excision Harambe, now I was a little worried about this one, the coils are small and I had some doubts that they would be able to keep up with a 70/30 juice.

Amazingly I chained this juice for two minutes straight and the coils kept up.

The flavour as well was very good: 9 out of 10.

Vapor production is not going to hot box any rooms, this is a MTL device so we wouldn’t be expecting it too.

Sense Orbit Baby Coil Life

After two weeks of use there is still plenty of life left in the little Orbit XS coil, I’m getting no signs of any burnt taste, I would fully expect maybe another week or two before I would need to change.

As with all reviews I am not using overly sweet juice which will have an impact on the colouring and clogging of the cartridge.

Sense Orbit Baby Mesh Coil

Airflow | Draw

As I said near the start, this is a very open airflow, not quite like an open straw but comparable to a Silk Cut purple smoke.

Juice Consumption

I was beginning to wonder if this was using juice at all, it is exceptionally thrifty and a pod full will more than likely last you quite a while, obviously if you intend to chain all day will need to open that rubber bung a couple more times.

Vapour Production

To be honest, this probably produces a bit more vapour than most devices in this area, considering the size of the device and the size of the coils.

With the mesh coil it is creating a bit of cloud, but again you are not going to be hot boxing any rooms, probably not even the broom closet.

Battery Life

The 460mAh battery really does fully charge in an hour, from this depending on your usage, you should get the best part of a day from it.

You can expect between 4 to 5 hours of reasonable chain vaping under a full charge as well.

charging

Charging the device is simple, plug in the Micro USB cable into the side and within the hour you will have a fully charged battery.

The Sense Orbit Baby can be used while charging, as a safety measure, the device will stop charging whilst it is being used and begin charging again when you are finished.

Pros

  • Economic Design
  • Easy to use
  • Fits in any pocket
  • Excellent Battery Life
  • Mesh Coils giving good flavour

Cons

  • A bit too airy
  • 4 second cut off
  • Curved base

Final Review Verdict

So when this came through, I was fully expecting a small AIO device with pretty common wire coils and more than likely little flavour.

The fact that this tiny device has mesh coils is a big plus for me.

A lot more manufacturers should be looking at mesh for the AIO devices.

The vape itself is not bad, yes it’s a bit on the open side for me but the flavour is there.

With nic salt you will also have a bit of a throat hit, I think this would have been a stronger hit with a bit more restriction on the airflow.

It’s a very simple device to use, and I think the way you change from normal to strong is pretty cool.

Is it going to keep a new vaper off the stinkies?

I guess that depends on what you smoked or are smoking!

sense-orbit-baby-reviewNot a bad wee device, it won’t quite launch you into the stratosphere but you’ll be at least a mile high.

  1. Love the Orbit Baby Sense. I was a two pack a day smoker, both L&M cigarettes and Nub cigars. I’ve since stopped smoking those and rely only on my Orbit. Taste is good, my clothed don’t smell like cigarettes anymore. Enjoyable. Great little vape fire sure and much more cost effective than always picking up a Fume at a convenience store. 👍
