The WVA (World Vapers’ Alliance) have turned into Mythbusters!

In their latest campaign they are aiming to dispel the misinformation which keeps being spread about vaping.

As we know the media is often the main culprit for scaremongering when it comes to vaping! In my 6 month study the results showed a mainly negative view of vaping from the UK news media.

So it is great to see campaigns to try and get a truthful message across.

A quote from the WVA states…

“Misinformation about vaping is widespread and one of the main obstacles for smokers to switch to less harmful alternatives. Despite its indisputable successes in bringing about the end of the smoking health crisis, vaping is still subject to a wide array of myths. Among many politicians, the media and the general public, we see a fundamental and pervasive lack of understanding surrounding the topic of tobacco harm reduction  — including the very meaning of harm reduction, the importance of nicotine alternatives, and misperceptions of the effects of nicotine itself.”

Busting Those Myths

A lot of the most common and often cited myths are listed.

Topics such as EVALI, Popcorn Lung and dangers of vaping are included.

You can also view / download the full factsheet here.

This is a great document to have bookmarked for when people start lecturing you about vaping – it is nice to have something solid to rebuff their misperceptions! There are links to studies which prove the statements to be false.

My name is Michelle - I am 48 and an engineer and Technical Author by trade. I started vaping many years ago in the days of Tornado tanks, Ego batteries and Variable Voltage. My journey in vaping began again around 2016 and have been interested in the topic ever since. I finally stopped smoking as of June 2019 and that is all thanks to vaping! 20mg Nicotine Salts are my hero! Oh and I am partial to a nice pod mod and Bubblegum e-liquid! I have enjoyed writing for Ecigclick since 2017 and love being part of this great team! My passion for Tobacco Harm Reduction has also led me to becoming a Trustee for the NNA (New Nicotine Alliance) aiding in Advocacy
