Vapoholic Fantasi Ice Nic Salt E-liquid Review

I’m really pleased to be reviewing the Vapoholic Fantasi Ice range of Nic Salt e-liquids.

Vapoholic was founded in Manchester, back in 2017. They felt there was a gap in the market between “Premium” e-liquids, with their associated prices and “bargain basement” e-liquid that is of much lower quality.

I quote from their website:

“Our mission is to offer you liquids with the premium quality you’re looking for, but without the premium price tag. We decided, right from the start, that we would never compromise on standards; taste, safety and satisfaction are always our priorities.”

Sounds promising!

What Can We Expect From The Vapoholic Fantasi ICE Nic Salt E-Liquid Range?

Now I’ll admit my bias straight away, I am an absolute sucker for e-liquids with cooling! So I’m really pleased to see that I’ve got a range of 6 different flavours, all of their “Ice” variety. If you’re not a fan of icy cold e-liquid, you’ll be pleased to know that 4 are also available in a non-cooling version.

All of the liquids I’m testing are 50/50 VG/PG, 10mg (also available in 20mg) Nic Salt.

They come in standard TPD compliant 10ml bottles, and it’s really clear which flavour is which with the name presented clearly and the colour differentiating them. They also show the strength in an easily spottable box at the top left of the label.

Especially if you have a few liquids on the go at a time, I hate having to peer at them to work out which one I’m supposed to be grabbing to refill my vape. So plus points for clear labelling here!

For testing these, I’m using a pair of Kayfun Lite RTA’s, built with a coil of 6 wraps of Vandy Vape Microfine Fused Clapton wire, tank cleaned and freshly wicked for each flavour.

Orange Ice

I say…

Smelling this e-liquid, I can definitely get a nice ripe Orange smell. There’s a little bit of an artificial smell to it, but that is likely due to the added cooling. On the knuckle (dripping the e-liquid onto my hand and tasting) it tastes like it’s going to be a punchy flavour.

On the inhale, the cooling hits you straight away. If you’re not a fan of that icy blast, then I’d definitely go with the non-ice version.

The Orange flavour is definitely punchy, it’s rich and has quite a sharp citrus taste in the mouth. Interestingly I’ve found that as my coil has bedded in, it’s become slightly more mellow.

As you exhale, the cooling picks up again and leaves a very clean after taste. A simple flavour, but nicely executed. There is still a shade of of an artificial taste to the Orange. But as a replica for Orange soda (Will loves Orange soda… mmm hmm!) it feels pretty accurate!

Grape Ice

I say…

Grape is one of those “danger flavours” for me! Sometimes it can taste delicious, but more often it can come across tasting a bit weird.

The smell is immediately promising, definitely got the dark fruitiness of Grape. On the knuckle it’s very sweet. So I’ll be interested to see if this carries over to the vape.

As you inhale, it’s not the cooling that’s at the forefront this time, it’s actually the Grape. And I’m pleased to say this is one of those rare, tasty, Grape flavours. It hits right in the middle of the tongue and is incredibly more-ish.

There’s a decent amount of cooling here, but it seems a little less aggressive than it did in the Orange. It’s definitely present, but I think the mellow flavour of the Grape is balancing it out really nicely.

Exhaling, you get that ice coming through, but it’s got a warm undercurrent of Grape. Leaving quite a sweet a mellow taste in the mouth. It’s not the cleanest finish and the sweetness definitely lingers on the tongue after you exhale, but it’s a tasty vape.

Cherry Ice

I say…

Wow this one smells sweet! Like plump candied Cherries. Doing the knuckle test, there’s definitely a lot of sweetness, but also a slight tartness from the Cherries.

On the inhale, it’s quite a subtle flavour. It’s quite surprising compared to some of the other ones in their range. The overwhelming impact is of sweetness, without much in the way of a distinct flavour.

The Cherries fill your mouth when you’ve stopped inhaling though. The flavour profile is definitely dark Cherries, rather than a Cherry candy. It’s a really rich flavour.

I think the richness of the Cherries also mutes the cooling notes on this one. As you exhale, there’s a very full body to the vapour, lots of scrumptious Cherries and the cooling only really hits you at the very end.

So, good Cherry flavour, but lacking on the cooling.

Blue Raspberry Ice

I say…

The smell of this is definitely on the sweet side, but more like a candy than anything “natural”. But seeing as this is Blue Raspberry Ice, that’s pretty much what I’d expect! The knuckle test reminds me of Candy-Floss, very sugary.

On the inhale, you’ve got lots of fruity, sweet flavours. Definitely some Raspberry, but in a (weirdly!) lovely artificial way. It doesn’t taste like eating a fresh Raspberry, it tastes more like a Raspberry candy.

If you hold the vapour in your mouth for a while, you can definitely taste the Raspberry. It’s sweet, but not overpoweringly so. I’m definitely getting the impression of having an Ice Lolly.

As you exhale, you get the cooling coming to the front, with a lovely sweet Raspberry underneath it. Your mouth ends up feeling refreshed and ready for some more.

Very more-ish, and it would be absolutely perfect on a warm summers day!

Watermelon Ice

I say…

Now this was one that I was looking forward to and a little nervous to try! As Watermelon is definitely one of those challenging flavours to get right!

It certainly smells like Watermelon, but quite a candied flavour. Tasting a little on my knuckle it’s full on Watermelon, so I have high hopes.

On the inhale, there’s not much taste of Watermelon. It’s mostly sweet, with a Melon undercurrent.

But as you hold it in your mouth and then exhale, you get hit by this amazing juicy flavour. Definitely tastes like Melon, so kudos to them on that! The sweetness of it does give it a little bit more of a Cantaloupe flavour than Watermelon, but that may also be because the flavour is so much more concentrated than an actual Watermelon.

The cooling is pretty subtle, with just a nice refreshing coldness on the aftertaste. It’s definitely not the right weather for it right now, but if I were lying on a tropical beach somewhere, this is high on the list of e-liquids I’d turn to!

Cola Ice

I say…

Smelling this final e-liquid, I’m not quite sure I can put my finger on what exactly it smells like. I was slightly expecting this to smell and taste like the Cola syrup that is used in commercial dispensers, but it’s actually a lot more complex that than.

Tasting a little on my knuckle I can tell it’s going to be interesting. Yes, there’s a strong Cola taste, but I can also pick up on some spiciness to it.

On the inhale, it practically fizzes on your tongue. It’s definitely one to wrap your taste buds around and easily the most complex of the flavours I’ve tasted in this review.

I can pick out notes of Cinnamon and Lemon Zest in the vapour with a slight Vanilla undercurrent.

As you hold it in your mouth and exhale, there’s no doubting it tastes like Cola. But like a high class Cola, rather than something out of a vending machine. There’s a subtle spiciness to it and the cooling gives a nice freshness to it, without being overpowering.

For me personally, I could stand to have a little more cooling in there. But I like my Cola like I like my vapes, absolutely ice cold, so your mileage may vary! To give them credit though if it were much cooler, you’d also probably lose out on some of the complexity of this one and that would be a shame!

Final Verdict

That was 6 flavours of the Vapoholic Fantasi Ice Nic Salts – so what did I think?

Whilst some of the flavours weren’t really for me, I’ve got to applaud them for producing such a quality e-liquid at an affordable price. They taste about as far from Petrol Station / Corner Shop e-liquids as you can get. All of the flavours were strong and clear and they didn’t leave any nasty aftertaste in your mouth.

4 of the flavours were very simple flavours (and that’s not a bad thing) with strong tastes coming through of the fruits they were supposed to represent. The Blue Raspberry and the Cola though were both a little more complex. The Cola especially was a surprise, as having worked in pubs for years, I thought it was going to be a sickly-sweet “Cola Syrup” type of flavour, but it’s so much more interesting than that!

With all of these flavours I was able to vape the full 10ml of these, so I’m confident in how I feel about them. The fact that I was happy to vape the full bottle definitely speaks to how enjoyable these were.

As with all e-liquid reviews though, taste is subjective. What tastes amazing to me, may not be your cup of tea and vice versa.
