Today I’m taking a look at the brand new Voopoo Vinci 3 Pod Mod.

Voopoo Vinci 3 Mod Pod hand check imageInteresting fact – this is the first device to be released by Voopoo in 2023. Aptly named, it ushers in the 3rd generation of kits in the Vinci series.

It all began with the original Vinci pod kit and the introduction of the GENE AI chipset – which has been at the beating heart of the range ever since.

Featuring 7 inbuilt safety features, intelligent coil matching and the ability to vape either manually or by auto draw the GENE AI chip has proved immensely popular among users.

Although the shape, size and screen layout has altered over time – all Vinci’s share one thing in common as we’re about to find out.

What Can We Expect From the Voopoo Vinci 3 Pod Mod?

The Voopoo PnP series of coils!

Fans of the range will be pleased to know they’re all compatible with the Vinci 3.

I do have reservations, though. Both TW15 and VM6 coils demand power outside the capabilities of this new device. I haven’t had the chance to test them so I can’t comment.

pnp coil range

However there are still plenty to choose from including those designed for MTL, RDL or DTL vaping. Even the RBA coil is compatible for the tinkering DIY’er.

Of course, these coils demand airflow and are catered for by way of the new Mobius (continuous loop) adjustable airflow structure.

The passage of airflow is now increased by an alleged 200%. This ensures tight pulls for those MTL vapes as well as strong DTL vaping, eliminating the possibility of choking during inhale or exhale.

.. Voopoo’s words. Not mine.

And Voopoo assure us that finding the ‘sweet spot’ is a painless process of trial and error.

Although a large 1800mAh integrated battery is included with type C USB charging, the Vinci 3 is 50% smaller and 20% lighter than comparable devices currently on the market.

Adjustable power range of the Voopoo Vinci 3 pod modThe battery is said to last for anything up to 2 days under moderate use.

You can adjust the output from 5-50W to suit the coil installed.

A sensitive 1000pa airflow sensor is provided for auto draw functionality. The fire button can also be deployed, independently.

We get the usual top filling system of the Vinci pods and a juice viewing window has been incorporated into the battery section.

Top fill and magnetic cartridge of Voopoo Vinci 3 podThe Voopoo Vinci 3 is available with a 2ml (TPD regulated) pod and 4ml for those outside the UK and EU.

There are five striking colour schemes to choose from: Carbon Fibre Black, Aurora Blue, Carbon Fibre Blue, Aurora Red and Rose Gold.

Design and Build Quality

Vinci Pod

It’s made from a tough PCTG material with a perfectly clear viewing window.

The “Duck Bill” style mouthpiece is removable to allow top filling. So there’s no need to remove it from the battery section.

Voopoo Vinci 3 2ml podThe mouthpiece opening is also considerably large to accommodate those long, direct lung hits.

It attaches to the battery via two strong magnets. It fits either way round for added convenience.

Those magnets passed the drop test from a standing height. Good stuff!

Vinci 3 Mod/battery

The new Mobius airflow system has been designed to offer an incredibly diverse array of options.

Large dual airflow slots on either side open or close by the actions of a rotary dial situated on the front of the battery.

Airflow slider and e-liquid viewing window on Voopoo Vinci 3 Mod pod

It’s an interesting concept and far less obtrusive than having a pin sticking out to make airflow adjustments.

The dial can be grabbed either side. A marker on the dial works with a visual scale to indicate how much airflow has been applied.

Adjustable airflow and USB port on the side of the Voopoo Vinci 3 Mod podA heavily recessed type C USB port is situated beneath one of the airflow slots. Combined with the rubberised base of the battery, charging in a vertical position becomes much less of an issue.

Directly beneath one of the dials is the circular fire button. It’s well placed for thumb firing, clicky and very responsive.

The monochrome OLED display runs vertically down the side, dimming after a few seconds before switching off to preserve battery life.

It’s clear, pin sharp and responds quite well in direct sunlight.

Quick Start Guide

How To Replace A Coil and Fill The Pod

The Voopoo Vinci 3 pod comes with a coil already installed. If you’ve just purchased the device you can skip to filling the pod. Come back here when you need to replace the coil.

  • Pull the pod out of the battery section
  • With the mouthpiece facing down, pull the coil out the pod
  • How to remove the PNP coil from the Voopoo Vinci 3 podPush a replacement coil back into the pod chamber ensuring a firm seal

With the coil now installed, go ahead and fill the pod.

  • Using your fingers and thumbs, snap the mouthpiece off the pod
  • Removing the mouthpiece of the Voopoo Vinci 3 podLocate the black fill port on the top of the pod
  • Push the E-liquid bottle nozzle into the fill port and gently squeeze liquid inside
  • How to fill the Voopoo Vinci 3 podSnap the mouthpiece back onto the top of the pod

It’s important to let E-liquid soak into the cotton for around five minutes before vaping for the first time.

Make sure at least 75% of the pod is filled and do NOT pour E-liquid down the centre hole!

How To Operate the Voopoo Vinci 3 Pod Mod

Everything is controlled by the fire button. Simplicity is the key.

  • Press the fire button five times to turn the device on

After a brief boot up screen you’re presented with the following screen info.

  • Press the fire button five times to enter the system menu. Using the fire button it’s possible to scroll through button lock, reset puff counter and power off. Press and hold the fire button to make your selection.vinci 3 menu

Please note: The Voopoo Vinci 3 Pod Mod kit incorporates Max Power protection. It’s not mentioned in great detail within the instruction manual.

It simply means the Gene chip doesn’t allow the coil to operate outside maximum parameters. It’s a great feature. One that stops the cotton from burning and helps to increase overall lifespan of the coil.

There are other safety features incorporated into the GENE AI chip.

How To Charge the Voopoo Vinci 3 Pod Mod

Use the included Type C USB charging cable. The charge rate is specified as 1A.

  • Switch off the Voopoo Vinci 3 Mod pod
  • Plug the USB type C connector into the side of the battery section
  • Charging the Voopoo Vinci 3 Mod podPlug the large connector into a suitable plug adaptor

The screen will display current battery charge in percentage until fully charged.

You cannot vape while the device is being charged.

How Does the Voopoo Vinci 3 Pod Mod Perform?

TW30 0.3ohm Mesh PnP Coil (Rated 28-36W)

I used IVG Vanilla Biscuit to test the coil. It’s a 70VG/30PG juice ratio with 3mg freebase nicotine applied.

Airflow was initially set to wide open.

Voopoo Vinci TW30 mesh PNP coilThe coil is incredibly responsive to that fire button! Power is instantaneous and the inhale is silky smooth with little to no turbulence.

Vapour production is immense but although running the coil at the higher end (35W) there’s little in the way of warmth.

However this doesn’t take away from the fantastic flavour quality. All the rich, creamy tones are on offer and Custard lingers on the palate in a pleasant way.

I took great pleasure in obtaining long, drawn out exhales on this setting.

Other Airflow Settings

The restriction to airflow can definitely be felt when turning the dial to mid position.

It has a dramatic enough effect on flavour properties too. The Biscuit base notes are prominently displayed, adding extra depth during exhale.

The creams and Custard also retain their place at the vaping table.

Overall flavour is more condensed and saturated and there’s just a smidgeon of warmth created.

So a semi Restrictive Lung hit works a treat. I found my own sweet spot with this level of restriction.

I don’t suggest trying any kind of lung hit passed mid position unless you’re into a very restrictive style.

Although it’s still a turbulence free, smooth vape, flavour becomes a bit watery and the mouthpiece begins to warm up to an uncomfortable level.

DW60 0.6ohm Mesh PnP Coil (Rated 18-23W)

This time I used Doozy Temptations Muffin Delight to test the coil. It’s another 70VG/30PG juice ratio with 3mg freebase nicotine applied.

The GENE AI chip auto detected 20W as the optimal setting so that’s what I ran with.

Voopoo Vinci DW60 mesh pnp coilWith the Mobius airflow structure wide open there was very little difference to the direct lung inhale of the TW30 mesh coil. The vape is marginally quieter and again, no turbulence of note.

In fact the direct lung experience was silky smooth. The coil can easily handle extended inhales.

The flavour was insanely good! Easily on par with a top end sub ohm tank set up and approaching RTA (Rebuildable Tank Atomiser) quality.

The Cinnamon content was at the forefront of the vape with sponge cake undulating beneath.

Quite amazing given such an open vape. There’s nothing diluted about the flavour at all.

The vapour production was super great with thick, white plumes tumbling from the exhale.

Further Airflow Restrictions

As before, the vape takes on a semi restrictive lung experience. It’s the setting I prefer – especially so with these Voopoo PnP coils.

The flavour is absolutely banging! All the spicy tones of the Cinnamon are as enhanced as they could possibly be. A flavour fest from first inhale to last exhale.

This coil overlooks nothing in terms of flavour notes, tones or even subtle nuances.

Vapour production remains in the same league as a dedicated sub ohm tank set up.

There’s just the slightest possibility of a MTL vape with further restriction but I honestly feel you’d be wasting your time bothering.

It’s not going to be a comfortable, natural inhale but incredibly, flavour quality still holds up.

Battery Performance and Recharging

I vape regularly. On occasion I may chain vape. With both coils I tended to opt for a semi restrictive lung vape with long, protracted inhales.

During the lifespan of a single charge I must have filled the pod three times.

The battery lasted a mere six hours. Hardly the two days being touted by Voopoo. So they must be basing their calculations on an infrequent, casual vaper.

It takes over 90 minutes to recharge a spent battery so it’s not quite the fast type C charging I was hoping for. I also couldn’t vape when plugged into a wall socket (Pass Through vaping).

Pros

  • Mega flavour from both Voopoo PnP coils
  • Excellent vapour production
  • Auto coil detection for best power
  • Instant ramp up time.
  • Vertical charging
  • One button, easy to navigate menu screens
  • Easy top fill system without having to remove pod from battery
  • Ergonomic and pocket friendly

Cons

  • No pass through vaping
  • Coils guzzle the juice with the 2ml pod (subjective)
  • Coils will weep from the base
  • 1800mAh integrated battery unlikely to last the average vaper 2 days

Final Review Verdict

When Voopoo PnP coils meet the new Mobius airflow system, vaping becomes very enjoyable.

It’s been quite a while since I’ve experienced flavour quality this good. I put that down to a combination of excellently designed mesh coils and effective airflow restrictions.

The result is insane flavour replication and awesome vapour production.

You will get a decent DTL, semi RDL or RDL vape from these coils. It would have been great if Voopoo had included a MTL coil to really showcase the benefits of the versatile Mobius system.

Menu functionality is simple and straight forward. It soon becomes second nature since everything is confined to the fire button.

To crown what’s already a pucker little vape device, check out the screen while vaping.

It shows the total number of minutes continuously vaped. How’s that for an addition to the puff counter?

Great work, Voopoo!

voopoo-vinci-3-pod-mod-reviewWow! The PNP Voopoo mesh coils kick proverbial butt in the new Vinci 3 Mod pod. The Mobius airflow system does work but you'll generally just be opting for a DL or RDL vape with the coils provided. So there won't be much need for tinkering. The rotary airflow dial is a vast improvement over similar designs and much easier in terms of use. The GENE AI auto coil detect tech is a real plus for those unsure of the best power settings. I highly recommend this solid little performer!
