The Aspire Minican + review and this pod kit comes almost a year to the day after the release of the much loved original.
As you’d expect, there’s been some major changes to both the design and the internals, which I’ll get into shortly.
Gaz aka the FlatCap Vaper reviewed the original Aspire Minican pod kit and he liked it in general – just a couple of niggles.
As to what I make of the revised version, we shall of course see in this vape review.
OK, Aspire really doesn’t need much of an introduction – who could forget the legendary Aspire Cleito – man that was a vaping game changer and my first big boy sub ohm tank lol.
However, from the start of 2021 it really has upped its game with seemingly none stop releases of very well received kits, tanks and pod kits.
Standout for me is the Nautilus Prime X which never leaves my side, the Aspire PockeX Box is a great vaping starter kit, and the lit cig style paper tips on the Aspire Vilter makes it ideal for smokers looking to switch to e-cigarettes.
And of course, Aspire has begun collaborations with high end designers creating the Boxx and Qbixx RBA, the Paradox mod and the Neeko RTA to name just a couple.
To top all that, Aspire parent company is hitting the stock market – so a company that’s very much on the up to say least.
What Can We Expect From the Aspire Minican + ?
As I always say, it’s flavour that’s key to me from any pod kit I review or buy.
Given the Aspire Minican + has a 0.8ohm mesh coil, I’m hoping for good to excellent flavour.
If any vape company knows how to make flavourful coils – it’s Aspire!
Simplicity is another factor, and I can tell you this pod kit is about as easy as it gets.
Due to the stupid TPD laws here in the UK and EU, it is a 2ml capacity but a very large battery for the size of the kit.
OK, let’s get on with the review.

Aspire Minican + Quick Start Guide
- Remove paper strip off base of the pod
- Open bung on pod base to fill
- Leave to stand for 10minutes to let the juice soak the coil
- Draw activate – easy!
Key Features
As pod kits go, the Aspire Minican + is yet another dead simple to use device.
There’s no buttons, screen or menus to worry about – simply fill it up and vape.
The pods have a 2ml capacity and a none replaceable 0.8ohm mesh coil.
I can see a bung inside the pod but couldn’t figure out a way to remove it.
Doing so would give another 2ml capacity by the looks of things.

The only other thing to say I guess is that when you vape a little LED light comes on…pretty lol.
Oh yeah, the Minican + battery will take other Minican pods – good stuff.
Currently available in 5 see-thru colours.
Design and Build Quality
The Aspire Minican + really is a tiny little thing as you can see from the photos.
Design wise and there’s a considerable difference between this and the original.
The new version is flatter and thinner for a start and of the two designs I prefer the look of the new one.
I do like the clearish plastic body – this allows you to see the internals and it does look very cool indeed.
The light only adds to the effect – the word pretty comes to mind again lol.
Build wise and hey, it’s plastic – but a decent grade and it may take a a bit of a drop before it chips.
The magnets holding the pod in place are extremely strong and it snaps in with a satisfying click.
How Does the Aspire Minican + Perform?
As previously mentioned, the Aspire Minican + might be small, but it’s been beefed up internally.
It’s a new coil [0.8ohm mesh] and the battery has been boosted from 350mAH to a whopping 850mAH.
That’s a big battery for such a tiny device!
OK, the original was an MTL device according to those that used it – so what’s the vape like off the new one?
Straight off the bat and this is a very warm vape indeed.
If you chain vape this little pod kit, you WILL get uncomfortable lips – so take it easy!
Speaking of lips, the mouthpiece is a duck bill style but it’s squarer rather than curved, but is still comfortable enough.
I’ve managed to get a full day’s vaping out this – that was using it as my only device so very good battery life.
Aspire Minican + – MTL Or DTL?
I’ve gone old school testing the Aspire Minican + and am using Dinner Lady Lemon Tart nic salts…bloody lovely stuff 🙂
Filling is easy enough and the bung is simple to open and feels like it will last with use.
First draw and I have to say it’s a pretty loose vape, there’s a slight restriction, but only slight.
At a push you could call this a looser RDTL – but it really is bordering on very loose.
If 10 is too airy this is an easy mid 8’s – I like it but it’s no way ultra tight.
BTW, I tried a fill of the 70/30 PG/VG Lemon Tart and it coped with the wicking very well indeed.
Aspire Minican + Flavour and Clouds
The 0.8ohm mesh coil seemed to pick out the sweet notes of the vape juice for the first fill.
It was only half way through the second fill I began picking up the pastry and that hint of lemon curd.
Even then it was still a little sweet so flavour wise it’s good but not amazing.
Vapour, even using the nic salts was impressive – if that’s your thing!

Final Review Verdict
My one con is the fact there’s only one pod/coil in the box.
I guess Aspire has done that to keep down the cost – however it does feel a little stingy.
I’m sure we’d all rather pay an extra quid to have a back up in the box if only because one may be faulty.
Anyway, it’s a small gripe – I mean what do I know about business overheads 😉
Other than that I can see the Aspire Minican + selling in droves.
Plus, the pods come in packs of two at less than six quid – so not a deal breaker really.
It looks cute as a button – and is ideal for in your pocket/bag/rucksack whilst out and about.
I have to say though, it is very small and I’ve lost it in my rucksack a few times lol.
Yes the design is stealthy, but that light and the sheer amount of vapour it pumps out – even with nic salts – means you’d be spotted vaping where you shouldn’t lol.
I tend to give away all the pod kits I review down the pub – but will be keeping this one – and that says it all.
Cracking little pod kit with good flavour and long battery life.

Hey Neil, what would be your next top pod system you’d recommend for nic salt next to the Aspire Minican? Caliburn G, Vaporesso Luxe 40, if you had to pick one? Or do you think the Minican + ranks next to the top vapes?

All are good options you have listed there. Can’t go far wrong with any of them. The Caliburn G has been one of the better devices we have used though.
I purchased the Aspire Minican+ after…so far I am loving it and the vapor production and flavor is on point….I’ve used the 0.8 and 1.0 ohm coils and prefer the 1.0 so far…any idea how the 1.2 ohm compares to these 2? I’m going to order some more pods but not sure if I should go with 1.0 or 1.2, I guess with 1.2 the battery may last a little longer before needing a charge.
