Today I’m looking at the extension of a very popular range of 10ml E-liquids – the Dinner Lady Nic Salts Range and they’re here to bring us another eclectic mix of flavours to try.

Dinner Lady nic salt range image2016 was a very experimental period when it came to E-liquid flavours and manufacturers were doing their utmost to separate themselves from a raft of generic, basic tasting formulas.

Originality was fast becoming the key to success in an ever expanding vape market. Dinner Lady grew from the idea of just two individuals. Looking back on their success it seems hard to fathom. So it was that originality put these guys firmly on the global map.

Lemon tart. Heck, I was one of those early vapers spreading the message. This stuff was good – and I mean good. From then on I became a devout dessert vaper! Always hunting down the kind of taste Dinner Lady had so magically bottled.

Best E Liquid Dessert Flavour 2022

I could probably count on one hand any other e-liquids that have even come close to their winning formula. And win it did – the awards came flooding in 5 years in a row. It was pleasing to silence all those members of the ‘hype brigade’.

Dinner Lady have since created over 50 premium flavours and all are well known across 90 countries worldwide. The great thing is, Lemon tart was introduced to their Nic Salt range which has now been updated to include 15 new flavours.

So we’re going to be taking a look at some of these now.

Can you guess what’s also been included? Ha!

What Can We Expect From the Dinner Lady Nic Salts range?

Dinner Lady have created 15 new nic salt flavours and ‘optimised’ 3 original flavours (Lemon Tart, Smooth Tobacco and Bubblegum).

This is essentially a re-launch of their core offering for the UK.

As a global brand Dinner Lady have consolidated their nic salt range to 45 flavours (a mix of brand new flavours and optimisation of existing), however for the UK market they have chosen 18 with a view to introduce more over the next year.

The 15 new and 3 optimised flavours are here to stay while all other remaining nic salt flavour available in the UK will be discontinued once current stock is sold.

The new flavours still offer a number of flavour categories to select from. These fall inside the fruit, sweets, beverages, desserts, tobacco and menthol lines.

I can see why Dinner Lady chose the three existing flavours to be optimised. Lemon Tart, Bubblegum and Smooth Tobacco have all been major successes for Dinner Lady.

Dinner Lady Lemon Tart nic salt 10ml
I get all nostalgic whenever I see this bottle!

Give the public more of what they crave!

They come in 10ml bottles with nicotine salt already included. You can choose between 10 or 20mg strength and with an E-liquid ratio of 50VG/50PG, they’re perfectly suited to low powered starter vapes or pod kits designed for a MTL vape.

Salt nicotine contains lower PH levels which basically means it’s less harsh on the throat, easily absorbed by the bloodstream and is flavourless too. I always suggest this type of nicotine to a new vaper – it hits the mark and stops the cravings for a cig.

OK. Let’s kick off proceedings with a taster of eight from the new Dinner Lady Nic Salts range. I’ll be looking for flavour replication, blending, consistency and vapour production inside my device of choice.

I’m using the Geekvape Wenax Q pod kit to sample the flavours, primarily because I know it’ll do them justice. Or it should do if they’re good enough! Of course I’ll be using the 1.2ohm mesh Q pod as it’s designed for that MTL vape this range is compatible with.

And remember! Flavour is subjective. No doubt some of you hate the fact I bang on about Lemon tart. You can’t please some folk! lol

Black Orange Crush

DL Black Orange CrushDL Says:

Combines berry fruits with a citrus twist. A rich Blackcurrant and juicy Orange comes through before the sharp taste of citrus hits with a cold Menthol for a layered flavour on the exhale.

I Say:

There’s a little bit of complexity going on with this one. The mixed berries are quite tasty and leave a lasting impression on the after taste.

Blackcurrant certainly does dominate proceedings and heavily influences what you’ll find on the exhale. Yet that’s really all I get as far as a medley of fruits is concerned.

It’s quite strange tasting undertones of Orange, though and I’m not quite sure if I think it’s an effective partnership. It’s not particularly natural tasting to be honest but at least it does its best to mix with the darker fruit.

In other words, the flavour concentrates have been applied carefully and correctly.

There’s a pleasant level of sweetness included once again and I take my vaping hat off to Dinner Lady for not overwhelming me.

So consequently, when all’s said and done Black Orange Crush does enough to quench the ‘ole thirst because it has all the attributes of a beverage inspired E-liquid.

Aided and abetted by a nice cooling blast on the inhale.

Bubblegum

DL BubblegumDL Says:

Reimagines the classic flavour of Candy and is ideal for vapers with a sweet tooth. There’s a sugary yet smooth taste to this blend in each puff for a well-balanced flavour.

I Say:

Our ‘Shell would be a bit envious of me. She’s a sucker for a Bubblegum vape and I’m pleased to say this version doesn’t disappoint.

The flavour really does drive through on the exhale. It’s a very consistent taste and highly authentic to boot! It actually seems to stimulate the saliva glands (sorry to be so graphic!) as the brain is tricked into believing it’s chewing down on gum.

The candy element is bang on and obviously the driving force behind the vape. It lingers on the palate and seeps through the nasal passages. Very pleasant indeed.

For the amount I’ve vaped I should technically be suffering from jaw ache!

And the best part of all is that unlike the real thing the flavour properties never wain.

So this Bubblegum ain’t gonna lose its flavour on the bedpost overnight! As close to the real thing as it gets. For a no nonsense vape it’s a killer!

Cherry Blast

DL Cherry BlastDL Says:

Cherry Blast unites ripe Cherries with a shockwave of icy Menthol for a chilled and sweet-tasting vape.

I Say:

I’d say the Cherry content has been pitched just about right. It’s very easy for manufacturers to simply overload simple, single flavours but Dinner Lady have thankfully been a little more subtle in their approach.

I wouldn’t say there’s anything ripe tasting about the vape, however. There’s that usual chalky, sweet like sensation as the exhale fades off.

There’s nothing inherently wrong with that but it does tend to mean the sweeter elements are kept separate, instead of blending with the fruit.

That’s where I have the issue with Cherry Blast. A blast of sweetness before, not during the overall vaping experience. Having said that, it’s the one that most resembles what you’d expect from a disposable vape. It seems to have all those hallmarks.

Right down to the elevated level of Menthol which unfortunately throws the mix out, somewhat.

If you like Cherry and plenty of Ice then give it a look. There’s certainly enough flavour filtering through.

Lemon Tart

DL Lemon TartDL Says:

A dessert blend with sharp and rich notes. On inhale, a buttery Pastry mixed with a light Meringue is present, combined with a sweet, citrus-laced Lemon Curd flavour for a rich yet authentic taste.

I Say:

It hasn’t won multiple awards for any old reason.

It’s like stepping back in time to 2016. In eight years of vaping Lemon Tart I’ve never grown tired of it. This is the ultimate dessert vape and I know of no other to steal its crown. Probably never will, either.

A Zesty, punchy and vibrant Lemon curd stifled of its citric qualities by a tart that’s just been removed from a piping hot oven.

The pastry notes are absolute perfection in a vaping bottle, right down to the finer elements such as pie crust. I’m still in awe at just how well this has been created.

Just the most delicate note or two of tartness and sweetness infuse themselves into this heavenly blend and it really is as close to eating the real deal as things get.

Stop the massive intake of calories and start vaping Lemon tart. If you’re a fan of dessert vapes and haven’t already tried this one – what are you waiting for?

Smooth Tobacco

DL Smooth TobaccoDL Says:

An authentic-tasting Tobacco blend that captures the sweet and savoury notes of the real thing. A woody flavour body makes way for a light nutty layer on exhale.

I Say:

“An authentic tobacco blend” – that’s sticking ones neck out a little. It’s incredibly difficult to produce one for a main stream audience, as past experience has taught me.

And this one doesn’t quite live up to expectations either. But don’t get me wrong, it’s definitely an accessible flavour and avoids tasting oily or synthetic. Dinner Lady have taken a different approach with their idea on tobacco blending.

It restrains the sweetness of a tobacco leaf in favour of a Vanilla, almost Latte tasting vape. I can certainly pick out a few lighter Coffee notes, believe it or not and there’s a creaminess running in the background.

Intertwined with this I get some distinct Woody, almost burnt notes pulling through.

Put it this way, if you liked a milky Coffee to accompany a cig back in the day that’s the experience you’ll get with Smooth Tobacco. Especially so when it comes to the after taste.

I’m pleasantly surprised by the end result. It feels like I’m getting two flavours for the price of one.

You really can’t ask for much more than that, can you.

Spearmint Menthol

DL Spearmint MentholDL Says:

Spearmint Menthol combines the mellow notes of Spearmint with a chilly Menthol and hints of Eucalyptus to create a sweet yet icy vape.

I Say:

This takes me back to the days when I first started vaping. Mint vapes seemed to be all the rage back then as folks clambered for a healthier alternative to Menthol cigarettes.

And Spearmint Menthol works just as well today as it did in my salad days of vaping.

You get a nice clean, smooth inhale as the mint gets drawn up and the flavour properties simply explode on the way out.

Again, I’m reminded of a soft, chewy sweet. Biting down, as it traps itself around all my fillings!

This is one vape where the Menthol properties really make a difference. In fact, I expect the higher dose as it perfectly complements the taste of Spearmint.

Yes, it may come across as slightly harsh with the exhale but if you’re looking for a palate cleanser or a flavour to reset the taste buds, this is it.

I’m feeling quite nostalgic, now!

Vanilla Tart

DL Vanilla tartDL Says:

Mixes a light Vanilla with the richness of Pastry for an indulgent dessert vape. Creamy Vanilla notes are followed by the buttery flavour of Pastry in this smooth-tasting blend.

I Say:

Dessert based vapes. Gotta love ’em. Or at least I do. So how does Vanilla tart fare?

Pretty damn well, if you ask me. Talk about an underlining richness to this vape! It’s the first thing I noticed – together with a helluva lot of flavour.

The creamy Vanilla simply oozes out of this one. And it’s heavily bolstered by a Buttery smoothness on the inhale.

The pastry notes are in there, but not as cleanly defined as the rich Vanilla and Buttery undertones. And those dairy, creamy notes complete a vape sent from heaven!

I’ve got to say, Dinner Lady have also pitched the sweetness levels just right. You won’t get this taste from a disposable vape, if you ask me.

So, if this one interests you, try it in a pod kit with relative clout – say 25 to 30W. That way you’ll get all those flavour notes pumping through together in one tasty exhale.

A dessert lovers treat, without a doubt. It works for me!

Watermelon Ice

DL Watermelon IceDL Says:

Watermelon Ice is a combination of both juicy Watermelon and the sweet flavours of Cantaloupe and Honeydew Melon. This fusion of fruits is tied together with a powerful layer of ice menthol.

I Say:

This is quite a fresh tasting mix of Watermelons and there’s certainly plenty of flavour to savour on the exhale.

Plenty of sweetness is dragged in on the inhale but doesn’t engulf the overall taste experience, which is a pleasant relief. And the Watermelon has a slight fragrance surrounding it that I don’t often associated with this type of vape.

So that instantly puts it within the realms of individuality. Yes, it’s actually much more refreshing than the majority of Melon vapes out there. It clearly manages to avoid the pitfalls of mediocrity when it comes to a synthetic or artificial taste.

How do I feel about the level of Ice? Again, it’s a bit on the stinging side and has a similar effect as eating too much Coleman’s Mustard.

However, that still doesn’t outweigh how well Dinner Lady have mastered the art of originality when it comes to this incredibly mouth-watering fruit.

Fair dues to them for offering us something different. No mean feat, in my humble opinion.

Final Review Verdict

I’d like to say Dinner Lady are the masters of simplicity when it comes to their E-liquids. Admittedly not all the fruits are as authentic tasting as they could be but by Jove – they’re definitely accessible to the new or seasoned vaper!

It comes down to flavour consistency. You’re guaranteed it every time and in just about any starter kit you’d care to imagine. The Nic Salts range is set up for those devices.

But it’s not just in terms of simplicity. Vanilla Tart and Lemon Tart demonstrate a complexity I rarely experience in 10ml E-liquid bottles these days. So there’s clearly depth to this range too.

What strikes me the most is that these are not designed to take the place of the flavour from a disposable vape. They’re designed to be enjoyed for the flavours within, not the incessant use of sweetener drowning it out.

So I say thank you to Dinner Lady for reminding me of simpler times, of times when I was experimenting with more ambitious creations. Of a time when E-liquids tasted pucker!

Great work.
