The iJoy Neptune is certainly a smart looking pod kit but does it bring anything new to the table?

Shenzhen IJOY Technology Co.ltd, who call China home, have been around the vape scene for a number of years and have brought us many vape kits.

Mods like – Shogun JR, Mystique, Shogun UNIV Mod, and atomizers like Avenger SubOhm Tank, EXO RTA.

And they have started to take a foray into pod kits like the Mercury AIO pod system we reviewed not long ago.

What Can We Expect From the Neptune Kit?

This is a compact pod system kit, the IJoy Neptune comes with an inbuilt 650mAh battery that charges safely and fairly swiftly with a USB-C charge port.

The long lasting battery will fire up to 14W max, and the kit comes with two 1.8ml pods with fixed coils.

While the device has 3 power levels and auto draw, a point worth mentioning is the double-sided curved glass panels, which give the kit a luxury look and feel.

IJoy have released the Neptune in 5 different shiny colours.

This device is ideal for use with Nic Salts and up to 70/30 VG/PG regular e-liquids.

So what are my thoughts on this sexy looking pod system?

Let’s find out with an up and close look at the kit.

This product was sent to us for the purpose of review, and as always, my thoughts and views are my own after a considerable testing period.

IJoy Neptune Pod Kit use ready

Neptune Pod Kit

Measuring in at just 86mm tall by 31mm in width and 14mm in depth, the size and weight make it ideal as a carry around device.

The body of the device is pretty plain but I believe the colour makes up for that, it’s made of zinc alloy and has glass panel’s front and back.

The Neptune consists of two parts – the body and PCTG refillable 1.8ml pod.

IJoy Neptune Pod Kit parts

The iJoy Neptune kit has been designed well, it is a compact sturdy device with a very good quality of manufacture.

iJoy Neptune Battery Overview

A 650mAh integrated battery powers the device, and the highest wattage output is stated as 14W.

The device will fire on 3 settings high, medium and low as indicated by the colour levels.

IJoy Neptune Pod Kit battery case

Looking into the top of the device where the pod sits, you will see 2 small gold plated spring loaded contact points, 2 magnets and 2 small airflow valves.

IJoy Neptune Pod Kit inside

There’s the IJoy logo in white below the fire button and the led lamp within the button changes colour depending on what setting you have it on.

The button is also a quick glance voltage indicator, and will light blue when you suck on the device.

IJoy Neptune Pod Kit button

With glass panel’s front and back which tends to make the iJoy Neptune a little finger print magnet.

IJoy Neptune Pod Kit print magnet

I would call the device boring in appearance if not for the vibrant colour.

On the bottom the battery has a USB-C charge port for fast charging.

Neptune Pod

IJoy supply 2 PCTG refillable 1Ω 1.8ml, fixed coil pods with the kit one of which is pre-installed into the device.

Nowhere can I find what the wire the coil uses however as I have suffered no adverse reaction I would say the wire is Kanthal.

 Pod Overview

  • 1Ω rated at 14W

IJoy has made a bit of a booboo!

On the box the coils are listed as 12W, while on their website the coils are listed as 14W, I have no idea lol.

After using the pod for a while on full power they do feel like 14W to me so I have listed them as so in this review!

Be mindful as the pods have fixed coils in them when the coils reach the end of their natural lives you will have to buy another Pod!

The Pod is made of clear plastic (PCTG) with a black mouth piece making it very easy to see remaining liquid.

The bottom of the pod has a metal sleeved base that has is highly attracted to the magnets within the body of the Neptune – as well as 2 gold plated contact points and between them is the airflow.

The fill ports are found under the removable mouth piece along with the chamber.

Also made from black plastic (PCTG), the mouth piece feels very comfortable in the mouth.

IJoy Neptune Pod Kit driptip

It has a wide vapour exhaust slot that tapers down to an approx 2mm.

Clear safety warnings are on the sides of the plastic body.

The magnets that hold the pod into the body are strong, I tried the shake test and the pod didn’t move or come loose.

I would call the pod sturdy.

The manufacture and design quality are good.

How Does IJoy Neptune Kit Perform?

For this example I have fill one of the pods up with Large Salts Banana Haze.

iJoy Neptune Quick Start Guide

When filling the pod with liquid I do recommend you use a thin needle nose bottle or a syringe.

Filling the Pod

  • Take off the mouth piece and fill your liquid into one of the fill holes.IJoy Neptune Pod Kit fill
  • Replace the mouth piece.IJoy Neptune Pod Kit cap back on
  • Place the pod into the Neptune battery; be sure the pod clicks into position.IJoy Neptune Pod Kit full pod battery

Leave the device alone for around 2 or 3 minutes to allow the coil and cotton to soak up liquid.

Neptune battery settings

Make sure the battery is fully charged before use!

usb c charge

While charging, the Led will be light green then red when charged, if left on charge the battery will go into hibernation.

X5 Rapid clicks on the action button will turn the device on and off a blue light will flash.

The device has 3 power settings pressing the action button 3 times successively to adjust the power in 3 optional levels.

  • Green – high power output 3.7 volts
  • Blue – medium power output 3.6 volts
  • Red – Low power output 3.5 voltspod voltage

Battery Protections

  • Low power

  • Short circuit
  • No Atomiser indication

iJoy Neptune Flavour and Vapour Production

Red setting is the lowest setting, the vapour production was quite good for a pod system, and the flavour was quite acceptable.

Blue setting which is my go to with this kit, the vapour production was much thicker than Red and the flavour was good.pod flavour test

Green setting – the highest – resulted in a very good vapour production, the flavour for me was Meh – hence I prefer the Blue setting.

However all 3 settings produced a cool to mid warm vapour experience.testing pod

iJoy Neptune Airflow

I was able to get a very acceptable restricted direct to lung draw with each power setting, but for me was a little too loose, the overall draw however was delightful – very smooth.

My Notes on the iJoy Neptune

Battery life is fairly good I got approx 5 hours on low power and about 3.5 hours on blue.low power pod

It takes around 45 minutes to fully charge the Neptune from flat.salt nic

One thing that bugs me is the 1.8ml pods the amount of times I have to refill the darn thing is ridiculous, but that is just me as I am a heavy vaper and tend to chain vape a lot, so strictly speaking I need to slow down when using a pod system!led light

I did look into the cost of replacement pods and my local Bricks and Mortar store sells a 3 pack for £8.99 or £3.99 for single pods.hand comfort

Pros

  • Quality of the kit is very good
  • Overall design is good
  • Manufacture has been done well
  • Good Colour selection available
  • Very easy to use
  • Good battery life (on low power)
  • Coil life is good (mine is still going after 7 days)
  • Fair flavour
  • Good vapour production
  • Fairly cheap retail price

Cons

  • Fixed coils
  • 1.8ml pod
  • Finger print magnet

Final Review Verdict

Opening the box for the first time I can say my first reaction was ooh I like the look of this kit!
Taking a closer look at the device it reminds me very much of the Teros One by Joyetech!

It has similar glass panels and with an operation basically the same, the only exception to that would be the different style of pods.

Otherwise I could almost swear it was the Teros One repackaged!

Would I recommend the iJoy Neptune Pod Kit?

For those looking for a second device or a stealthy small device “Yes”

Would I buy this kit again due loss or damage?

For me personally “No” while the vape was good and I mean really smooth, I still prefer my Nord pod system.

Although Mrs J is just head over hills in love with the Neptune pod kit.

It gets her seal of approval as her new favourite device, she has even bought a second so while one is on charge she can still vape the other.

Hi my name is Kevin, I started vaping back in 2009 mainly because my little boy at 3 years old was starting to copy the way daddy smoked a cigarette! Over the years I have gained a good amount of experience with different types of vaping hardware but I'm just a normal guy who enjoys sharing my experiences. This is why I started my Youtube vape review channel in 2014. To date the channel has had over 500,000 views. Being disabled, vaping has given me a gateway to meeting people from all different walks of life, many of those I would not have met under other circumstances. The way I look at my reviews is, if I can convince just one person to give up the stinky’s my job is done. I class myself as a tinkerer as I like to take things apart to see how they work and put them back together, yes that includes e-cigarette mods! One day I would like to be able to design my own mod. I am a dedicated father, and husband to my sweetheart of nearly 30 years! Family to me comes before anything else.

ijoy-neptune-pod-kit-reviewNice design - decent flavour and clouds but the iJoy Neptune just doesn't really float my boat - my wife loves it though!

  1. Thanks for your review, Kevin, very informative.
I notice the holes on the side of the coil (the bits where you can see through to the white stuff on the inside of the coil) are quite high up inside the pod – about halfway up by the looks of it. Does this mean you have to keep refilling it even when it’s only half empty?
    Cheers!

    • Hey there PK
Like tanks of years ago I tend to tip the pod so that the liquid can re wick the cotton! its a pain but no you don’t have to keep refilling all the time, although I’ve found myself doing so lol as I don’t like to let the pod run out completely in case I accidentally take a dry pull which will then burn the cotton rendering the pod U.S cheers
