Following on from our recent article “Mysterious Symbol Leaked“, I’m honoured to be given the opportunity of revealing to our readers Voopoo’s newest addition to their Drag range of e-cigarettes!

“Drum Roll Please” LOL

I’d like to introduce you to the Voopoo Drag Q !

Voopoo Drag Q mod banner

This is of course is a Mouth To Lung (MTL) and a Restricted Direct To Lung (RDTL) device that is an ideal starting point for those new to vaping. (We tell you what MTL and RDTL mean in our Guide To Vape Styles).

Voopoo were originally setup in 2010 as a medical electronic research company based in China.

In 2016 they acquired Woody Vapes to begin their prolific journey into the harm reduction world of E-cigarettes!

Over the years Voopoo have given us many kits! Some of their ranges include – the Drag series, the Vinci series and the Argus range. One of my favourite Voopoo Kits of all time is the Alpha Zip with the excellent Maat tank!

What Can We Expect From the Voopoo Drag Q?

This kit is available in 6 colours: Vitality Orange, Marsala, Classic Red, Chestnut, Carbon Fibre and Galaxy Blue.

Voopoo Drag Q device colours

Similar to the Argus Pod that I reviewed a few days ago, the Drag Q is a pod system and comes equipped with Voopoo’s ITO atomisation technology which brings a tasty vaping experience.

This device has an output power of up to 25W and you can adjust this output too.

Voopoo say the Drag Q has a smart ticking air-power adjustment that is inspired by classic windup watches.

There is a hidden airflow and gradient light bar coupled with a long lasting internal 1250mAh battery.

This sample product was sent to me direct from Voopoo, for the purpose of review!

As always my views and thoughts are my own after considerable testing period.

Design and Build Quality

Voopoo sent me a standard sample of the Drag Q in Chestnut for this review, the kit comes nicely presented in a card draw box!

Included with the kit is the newly updated ITO X Pod Tank which is very interesting.

Voopoo normally go down the route of magnet connections for pod tanks. This one is different and is held very firmly by a set of bearings (around the tank base) they snap into the pod bay, this is also a top fill tank.

Materials and Parts

This tank is made of Stainless Steel and PCTG; the tank will dissemble into 3 parts; mouthpiece, fill cap and the tank body!

While the mouth piece is obviously a plastic sleeve it is quite comfortable in the mouth.

Voopoo Drag Q drip tip

The fill cap is made of stainless steel and screws on and off with a ¾ turn, the cap has adverting printed on it.

The fill port has a black rubber gasket; you poke your bottle nib into to fill.

While the main part of this pod tank is made of plastic with the obvious metal accoutrements i.e. chimney/coil guide and round base that allows connection to the Drag Q device.

Voopoo Drag Q pod assembly

Throughout my testing of the ITO X tank, I have received good flavour and vapour quality this has led to a good vaping experience on my part. Likewise I have suffered no leaks into the pod bay in this time, not even condensation from the coil!

Voopoo Drag Q connect baring

ITO X Pod Tank is compatible with all the current ITO coils in the ITO Platform. There is a full range of coils that cover RDL and MTL.

The kit includes 2 coils

  • ITO M0 0.5Ω – RDL
  • ITO M3 1.2Ω – MTL

Two other coils are available for separate purchase

  • ITO M2 1.0Ω
  • ITO M1 0.7Ω

Voopoo Drag Q types of coilI am told the Drag Q is also compatible with the earlier ITO Pod which is a bottom fill pod tank.

Voopoo Drag Q Device

Measuring in at around 92mm tall with the pod tank in place, the width of this device is 14mm and with a depth of around 24mm, the Drag Q device has a zinc alloy body with faux leather stickers and a silicone base!

From the top

The Drag Q has a rounded pod bay that contains the normal spring loaded gold contact points.

And airflow inlet for this one is a hidden lune slot between the bay and the front of the device.

You will also see a dial on the device this is for airflow and power; as you dial up or down the power and airflow adjust together!

Voopoo Drag Q Body

The rounded back of the Drag Q has faux leather style sticker that serve as decoration and for advertising it is stamped with “Drag Q”.

To one side of the device in a faint font is the word “Voopoo”.

On the other side of the device I believe will have “Drag” printed, however as you can see mine says “Sample”.

The internal battery for this mod is 1250mAh and charged with the included Type C charge cable.

Voopoo Drag Q – Bottom

This is where you will find the Type C Charge Port for charging the internal battery. BTW the charge port is surrounded by silicone that has all the relevant safety marks stamped into it!

Both the ITO X Pod Tank and the Drag Q device have a great design and they have a high manufacturing quality.

So How Does the Voopoo Drag Q Kit Perform?

For this review I will be using the 0.5Ω coil in the ITO X Pod Tank, I will also be using one of my favourite liquid by Kwik Vape “Lime Slushie”.

A Basic Quick Start Guide

Voopoo ITO X Pod Tank

Choose one of the coils which come with the kit either 1.2Ω or 0.5Ω

  • Prime the coil with a few drops of e-liquid on all exposed cotton and press the coil into the tank. Voopoo Drag Q prep coilVoopoo Drag Q coil in
  • Remove the fill cap and locate the fill port within the silicone stopper and fill the tank with E-liquid.Voopoo Drag Q filling pod
  • Let the tank stand for about 3 minutes before firing for the first time; this is so the cotton can soak up more e-liquid!
  • Then snap the ITO X pod tank into the pod bay and you’re set to go!

Voopoo Drag Q Device

Make sure the device is fully charged before 1st use; I always check this now as a matter of course!

Voopoo Drag Q on charge

The Drag Q device is operated by the fire button on the front of the device.

  • Click the fire button 5 times fast, to turn the device on and off.
  • After 5 minutes of inactivity the device will lock itself, to continue to vaping press the fire button 3 times.
  • Adjust power and airflow – rotate the turn screw dial – this will adjust the output and airflow to match each other.
  • Adjust the airflow alone – (Editor note – I was shown at Expo how to do this – I think you hold down the power button whilst rotating the turn screw dial to just adjust the airflow – Michelle).

The device does auto draw, however I have found it to be intermittent.

Battery Indications

The device displays the battery state at a glance by the colour of the LED bar…

  • Green = full 100 to 60%
  • Blue = half 60 to 25%
  • Red = recharge needed 25 to 0%

This device has 6 built in protections.

Voopoo Drag Q Kit – In Use

At the time of my writing this review, this kit has literally just been released on to the market by Voopoo.

I’m not a great lover of pod kits in general preferring something with a bit more oomph to it!

But I have to say the Drag Q does function great with a smooth draw, good flavour and a decent vapour production!

Voopoo Drag Q puff

The device has a good feel in the hand, it will make a great second carry around device for me.

Voopoo Drag Q white flower

With the airflow fully open the pod tank delivers a very nice cloudy restricted direct to lung vape, albeit for me it’s a wee bit on the cool side.

Turn the airflow down for a good mouth to lung vape with good flavour!

With its novel dial you can adjust the airflow at the same time the dial adjusts to the wattage up or down.

My Thoughts

Not being a serious mouth to lung vaper I opted to use the 0.5Ω coil as RDL and adjusted the airflow to suit. I have to say I am impressed with these coils I have been using the same one for well over a week and the flavour is still as good now as when first installed.

Voopoo Drag Q liquid and mod 2

The 1250mAh internal battery and MTL style is great! Shock and horror I was able to vape for nearly 2 full days with this style of vaping!

For use as an RDL device with the airflow wide open I obtained the 3.5 plus hours of vape time which was amazing as I am a heavy vaper!

  • Quality and Design
  • Great battery life (MTL)
  • Comfortable in hand
  • Good flavour and vapour production
  • Beginner friendly
  • Smooth airflow draw

  • The auto draw for this device works intermittently
  • Charging time is a little slow

Final Review Verdict

My first thought was here we go again yet another pod device, I hope it doesn’t leak lol!

I don’t like most pod systems (read that as sick of them lol) however I am impressed by the flavourful smooth vapour production this one produces, and I just love the way you can see at a glance how your battery is doing!

The auto draw works 80 to 90% of the time – I’m guessing it maybe just this sample device that has this error but who knows!

Would I recommend the Voopoo Drag Q?

“Yes” it will make a great starting point for those new to vaping and a great alternative to disposable vapes!

Would I buy this device again due to loss or damage?

“Maybe” at the moment I carry the Drag Q as a back up to my normal daily mod.

Hi my name is Kevin, I started vaping back in 2009 mainly because my little boy at 3 years old was starting to copy the way daddy smoked a cigarette! Over the years I have gained a good amount of experience with different types of vaping hardware but I'm just a normal guy who enjoys sharing my experiences. This is why I started my Youtube vape review channel in 2014. To date the channel has had over 500,000 views. Being disabled, vaping has given me a gateway to meeting people from all different walks of life, many of those I would not have met under other circumstances. The way I look at my reviews is, if I can convince just one person to give up the stinky’s my job is done. I class myself as a tinkerer as I like to take things apart to see how they work and put them back together, yes that includes e-cigarette mods! One day I would like to be able to design my own mod. I am a dedicated father, and husband to my sweetheart of nearly 30 years! Family to me comes before anything else.
