In this review we will take a look at the latest refillable pod system from ElfBar, the ElfBar ELFX 2!
ElfBar are a truly massive name in the vaping industry, making their name thanks to the incredibly popular disposable vapes from themselves and sister company Lost Mary.
Since the disposable vape ban in the UK, ElfBar have adapted to the changing market conditions by releasing reusable pod systems, as well as the ELFX series of refillable pod systems.
The ELFX was the first one in the range, and this was quickly followed up with the ELFX Mini, ELFX Ultra and the ELFX Mega– all of which we have reviewed here on Ecigclick!
What Can We Expect From The ElfBar ELFX 2?
ElfBar’s sequel to the original ELFX refillable pod system is a sleek and compact, yet powerful device that is designed to cater to vapers who crave simplicity, control and top level performance from their devices!
Catering to both restricted direct-to-lung (RDL) and mouth-to-lung (MTL) vaping styles, it features a variable wattage range of 10-30W and adjustable airflow to really dial in your preferred way to vape.
You can personalise your vaping experience even further with the ElfBar ELFX 2, as alongside adjustable wattage and airflow you have the choice of multiple vaping modes including Eco and Power mode!
The ELFX 2 is built to last you too, as it packs a massive 1700mAh battery that can easily sail through heavy vaping sessions, with Type-C fast charging to charge your battery back up in no time at all!
ELFX pods have also received a refresh and the ELFX 2 packs the new ELFX Refillable Pod 2.0- featuring a TPD friendly 2ml capacity, a top filling system for fast refills and a leak resistant design.

Design & Build Quality
I found that the original ELFX was quite tall for a pod system at the time I reviewed it, and the ELFX 2 is a smidge taller this time round with dimensions of 121.8mm x 25.9mm x 15.5mm.
The ELFX 2 retains the same sleek design DNA, with a device profile that is comfortable to hold and use, and it slips easily into my pocket too. It’s light enough that I hardly notice that it is there!
When it comes to personalising your ELFX 2 to suit your own style, you’ve got seven different colour options to pick from. There’s Berry Pink, Matte Black, Mint Green, Ocean Blue, Sky Blue, Space Grey and Velvet Purple finishes.
The brushed finish gives it the look and feel of a premium device, and the ElfBar logo is subtly laser etched onto the front of the device without dominating it.
Also on the front of the device is the power button, which is used to turn the device on and off and change the power output. There’s also an LED light indicator here too which displays the remaining battery life.
As with the original, the ELFX Refillable Pods connect magnetically to the device. Original ELFX pods are also compatible, so if you have any of those floating about they will work with the ELFX 2!
I noticed that there is much less wobble present than there was on the original ELFX kit.
The pods are held firmly in place and even if I grip them and give them a wiggle, they stay pretty firmly connected.
Another great feature here is that like the original, you can see exactly how much e-liquid is remaining in the pod without needing to remove it from the ELFX 2. This means you’ll always know exactly when it is time to refill!
I think that ElfBar have definitely improved on the original ELFX, as I feel that the ELFX 2 is an even better looking device and features better build quality too!
Quick Start Guide
How to Fill the Pod
The filling port is handily located at the top of the pod, so there’s no need to remove it in order to fill it up.
Just lift up the silicone filling port cover and fill through the exposed filling port hole, taking care not to fill it all the way otherwise e-liquid will spill out! Just leave a small air bubble and you’ll be fine.
Of course, if this is a brand new pod, let e-liquid sit in the pod for five minutes before you take a puff, so that the cotton around the coil can fully absorb the e-liquid.
This will also prolong the lifespan of your pod by guarding against nasty dry hits!
Operation
After you’ve filled up your pod, you are going to want to turn the ELFX 2 on by either clicking the power button five times or holding it down for three seconds. The same process is used to turn the device off.
You can cycle through Eco, Normal and Power output modes by pressing the power button. A green LED light around the power button is Eco mode, white is Normal and purple is Power mode.
You can turn off the indicator light setting by quickly removing and reinserting your pod three times.
Also, to check the battery life, there are white bars present above the power button. Three bars means that >60% remains, two bars mean 20-60% and one bar is less than 20%.
To take a puff, simply draw on the mouthpiece of the pod.
Charging
The ELFX 2 features Type-C charging at the rate of 5V/1A, and there isn’t a charging cable included with the kit.
A full charge takes just over an hour, and whilst charging the device, the light will switch off once it is fully charged.

How Does The ElfBar ELFX 2 Perform?
With the ElfBar ELFX 2, the device offers a 10-30W power output, but this is dependent on the resistance of the coil in your pod and the output is smartly selected by the chipset inside the device.
There’s no screen on the device, so you can’t see exactly what the output is, but you can cycle through different wattage output presets in the form of Eco, Normal and Power modes.
However, only the 0.4ohm ELFX Pod will take you up to the maximum 30W power output, and these pods are sold separately and not included with the device.
I will say that during testing the output and quality of vape stays consistent throughout, even as the battery life decreases. It does drop off quite sharply though when you get to 20% battery life, so there’s your warning to charge it back up as soon as you can!
One thing I noticed on the ElfBar website was that the ELFX 2 is marketed as an inhale activated and button draw device, however I couldn’t for the life of me get the button draw to work, nor could I see how to activate it in the instructions!
Neither pressing nor holding the button down got it to fire!
It’s not really an issue for me as I always disable button firing and use the inhale activated draw, but this might confuse some people if they have a preference for a button fired device.

0.6ohm Pod
Ok, well, wow- the flavour here has noticeably improved over the original ELFX 0.6ohm pods, and those were no slouch at all!
ElfBar seemed to have refined the pods even further, delivering a smoother vaping experience that elevates all the flavour notes present in the e-liquids I was using.
This pod really excels with complex blends and single fruit flavours alike, providing a pretty exceptional vape I must say!
The 0.6ohm pod is the one you want to go for if you are after a warm, restricted direct to lung hit.
0.8ohm Pod
So, the 0.8ohm pod also delivers a very flavoursome experience, albeit with a slightly cooler vape compared to the 0.6ohm version.
Even though the vape isn’t as strong as the one you get from the 0.6ohm pod, the 0.8ohm one can still definitely held its own with pretty much any blend I threw into it.
I felt that this one was actually better suited to mouth to lung vaping (well my preference of mouth to lung vaping anyway!), making this pod a solid choice for high strength nicotine salt e-liquid.
Pod Lifespan
The pod lifespan from the original ELFX pods was excellent- I got three weeks out of a single pod when I reviewed the original ELFX pod system!
And I’m pleased to say that the ELFX 2 boasts excellent pod lifespan too, with similar numbers to the original.
Buying less pods saves you money in the long run and is better for the environment too!
Airflow
The airflow is fully adjustable via the side airflow control, which features some buttery smooth travel and is very easy to adjust on the fly.
I can safely say that this device definitely caters to both mouth to lung and restricted direct to lung vapers, as the airflow can be adjusted to suit either style.
It’s capable of impressive cloud output with the airflow fully open too!
Battery Life
Well, this is a huge upgrade on the original ELFX, the built in battery receives a big bump from 1000mAh on the original to 1700mAh here!
And I really noticed the difference too, I would struggle to get a full days worth of vaping with the original ELFX but the ELFX 2 absolutely sails through a full day with ease, even when using the 0.6ohm pod and vaping exclusively in power mode.
This can be extended even further in eco mode, but the trade off here is a weaker vape, I’m quite happy puffing away in power mode and getting over a day’s worth of vaping out of a single charge!
I did notice that the battery seems to die off quite quickly once it reaches 20% battery life, I found that I would only really get a few more puffs out of it before it would blink at me and stop any output!
Pros
- Exceptional flavour from the pods

Cons
- 30W output is only available with the 0.4ohm pod, which is sold separately
- Limited variable wattage options- can’t fine tune the wattage
- Advertised as button draw and inhale activated- but I couldn’t get the button draw to work!
- Battery dies quite quickly when you get to 20% remaining
Final Verdict
ElfBar have genuinely knocked it out of the park with the ELFX 2, proving that they are just as capable of dominating the refillable pod market as they were the disposable one!
If you picked up the original ELFX, you might be wondering if it’s worth the upgrade. The short answer is a resounding yes!
The jump from a 1000mAh to a whopping 1700mAh battery is a massive quality-of-life improvement, allowing the device to easily sail through a full day of heavy vaping without breaking a sweat.
Pair that with the refined ELFX Refillable Pod 2.0, and you are getting truly exceptional, top-tier flavour that makes even complex e-liquids shine. The fact that these pods can last for weeks is just the icing on the cake for your wallet!
It is not entirely without its quirks, though. The sheer mystery of the advertised “button draw” activation—which I absolutely could not get to work—might baffle a few users.
It is also a bit of a shame that you have to buy the 0.4ohm pods separately to experience the device’s full 30W capabilities, and you will definitely want to keep a close eye on that LED indicator, as the performance drops off a cliff once you hit that 20% battery mark.
However, those minor gripes pale in comparison to how well this kit actually vapes. With its buttery smooth adjustable airflow, premium brushed finish, and rock-solid magnetic pod connection, the ElfBar ELFX 2 is an incredibly reliable daily driver.
Whether you are a die-hard MTL vaper or love a warm RDL hit, this is a highly versatile, well-priced bit of kit that is absolutely worth adding to your rotation. Highly recommended!
