The Freemax Mesh Pro is the new sub ohm tank which now has multiple mesh coils.

The Freemax Fireluke Mesh was a huge hit and I loved in – that much I now own 3 of them!

The Mesh Pro is not compatible with the existing Fireluke Mesh coil heads but it is compatible with the existing Freemax Fireluke standard tank coils.

The kit includes the new Fireluke Single mesh coil and the Double mesh. There is a new triple mesh coil which you can purchase too.

The standard capacity is 6ml but there are also bubble glass options for 4ml and 5ml. Expect the capacity to be limited to 2ml for sale in the EU due to the TPD regulations.

The tank has a slide top fill system and adjustable airflow on the base.

The gold plated 510 connection can also be adjusted for use on mods which haven’t got spring loaded connectors.

There are 6 resin colours to choose from – Purple, Black, Pink, Orange, Green and Blue. Plus recently released are 5 stainless steel versions in Black, Gun, Rainbow, Golden or Silver.

I have been really looking forward to this – let’s get her filled up and fired up!

This tank was sent to me for purposes of a review but my opinions are my own based on the performance of the tank I received.

Build Quality & Design

My Freemax Mesh Pro tank came in the Purple Resin colour and the tank glass does have “Not for sale” etched into it – so that does appear on some of my photos I am afraid!

I have to say although the resin finish is beautiful this tank is not as pretty as the Fireluke Mesh. Pictured below is the Mesh Pro with the original Fireluke Mesh in Rainbow SS.fireluke mesh v mesh pro

The glass installed is the 5ml tall glass, but the kit also includes the 6ml Pyrex bubble glass.mesh pro with bubble

It looks very tall and the top and bottom cap don’t flow with the bubble glass.mesh pro standing view

As this was a strange colour to match to a mod – I found it didn’t look right with a black mod – so I decided the VZone Graffiti was a good match!mesh pro Vzone Graffiti

Build quality as usual from Freemax is just perfect, the top cap slides smoothly as does the airflow control ring. It is easy to unscrew the bottom of the tank for coil replacement.

The drip tip is an 810 fitment and due to the inclusion of an internal O-ring you can use drip tips with or without (Goon style) O-rings. The Goon style were a little loose on my tank though.

How Does the Freemax Mesh Pro Tank Perform?

Basic operation

Not much to tell you here – other than to adjust the airflow turn the ring at the base of the tank. This will expose the airflow inlet slots. Fully open slot = unrestricted airflow and you can close the slot by rotating the ring to suit your preference.

How To Fill The Tank

  • Look for the red dot on the ring just below the top of the tank.mesh pro filling marker
  • Push the top cap across at the point of the red dot.
  • Squeeze liquid into the filling port – Freemax say to fill to 3/4 full.freemax mesh pro fill port
  • Slide the top cap back into position.

How To Install The Coil Head

  • Remove the tank from the mod.
  • Turn the tank upside down – if it is more than about a quarter full you will get some liquid coming out of the drip tip – so have some tissue to hand!
  • Unscrew the base of the tank.
  • If a coil is installed this is simply unscrewed from the tank base.mesh pro coil removed
  • Screw a new coil head into the tank base.
  • Screw the tank base onto the tank.
  • Fill the tank and leave to stand for at least 10 minutes – these are mesh coils with a lot of wicking and a dry hit will not be pleasant!

You can also use the coils for the original Freemax Fireluke tank in the Mesh Pro.freemax coils

Flavour & Cloud Production

This is a sub ohm tank so you need high VG e-liquid. Read our guide to PG and VG in e-liquid for more info.

I used my usual 80% VG 6mg nicotine Stika Bombz Fruit Salad liquid as I find it easy to compare between tanks.

The airflow was best for me in the mid position but wide open is barely any restriction and you can close it off completely – so everything inbetween!

Freemax Kanthal Double Mesh Coil

I started off at 60W which was a very cool vape. From 65W onwards this tank comes alive.

70-75W OMG such a smooth beautiful cloudy tasty vape! I already love this tank!

At 80-85W the taste is so warm it’s like eating your e-liquid it is that good. At 90W it is still good and loads of vapour. What a performer this tank with the double coil is!

My preference was 75W – nice and warm not hot, really tasty and lots of vapour. Well done Freemax I didn’t think the Fireluke Mesh could be improved on. In fact this coil for me kills even the Horizon Falcon Mesh!

Freemax Kanthal Single Mesh Coil

This is a single coil of 0.15ohm and rated for 40-70W.

So I started at 45W – not much flavour but a good cloud from this coil even at this low wattage.

Moving up the wattage I found the taste didn’t really kick in until over 65W, I like this best at 70-75W. This is a lot drier vapour and not as pure flavour as the double. This coil made me really thirsty!

Flavour wise this isn’t a patch on the double mesh – but it’s a decent performer. However the vapour production is excellent.

If you prefer clouds to pure taste this is the coil for you! Personally I couldn’t wait to get the double mesh coil back in the tank!

Pros

  • Huge e-liquid capacity plus additional tank options.
  • Plenty of coil options to suit your preference.
  • Excellent build quality.
  • Filling is much easier than Fireluke Mesh
  • Plenty of options for your own 810 drip tip

Cons

  • Not quite as pretty as the original Fireluke Mesh – but that is my opinion.
  • Drip tip is very wide and the walls are very thin – doesn’t affect the vapour but feels a bit too big for me.
  • Would have been nice to have the triple mesh coil in the kit too.

Final Review Verdict

I started testing this tank with the double mesh and within 10 vapes I had fallen in love. My favourite Sub Ohm tank was previously the Horizon Falcon but I have to say the Freemax Mesh Pro has now taken that crown.

The double mesh coil gives a beautiful flavour in a smooth warm to hot vape. It is so smooth you can almost feel the tickle on your tastebuds as your e-liquids come alive. Also so far I have had 11 days use from the double mesh coil and it still tastes amazing!

The single coil performs well just not a patch on the double. However the vapour production is really surprising from the single mesh!

Just buy it – it is amazing. If like me you love the flavour and vapour from rebuildables but haven’t the hand dexterity, time or motivation to build decks – this is a very respectable alternative.

Bad points – well it isn’t as pretty as the original Fireluke Mesh and some might say it is a bit greedy on e-liquid – I found it no more greedy than other Mesh tanks I own. Plus I love vaping on this so much I am actually vaping a lot heavier.

I would love to try the triple mesh coil too – sadly this was not included in the kit which is a shame and I will have to buy a 3 pack of these just to try it out? I might spend my money on the double mesh instead as I already know I love those.

Everything else about this tank is incredible – Freemax have pulled out another winner!

freemax-mesh-pro-reviewAnother winner from Freemax - how do they do it? Just niggly points about the looks otherwise this has now become my favourite sub ohm tank - beating the original Fireluke Mesh, Horizon Falcon, Nunchaku and Avenger. All of which are amazing so you can see how well this performs! You will be filling this up a lot as it is so moreish - wow!

  1. None of the reviews mention this, but if you keep your rig in your pocket this tank is useless. Have had a pocket full of juice twice now. The top opens too easily.

The dual coil is amazing and creates great flavour with a smooth quiet draw but the top opening and leaking juice means I can only use it at home.

Exact same issue with the also brilliant EHPro Raptor. They both stay at home for ocassional use. Such a shame.

    • Yep I have heard a few people saying this – it hasn’t happened to me thankfully – but I have heard some people say theirs has done this. One simple way around it is one of those silicone vape band things around the top and glass to hold the slide top shut – but it is a shame. Some must be looser than others perhaps?

  2. I bough this tank and the 510 thread doesn’t fit on any of my devices ,it’s too thin and won’t screw in.

Tried it on the Innokin mvp4 ,Aegis mini mod ,Smok stick prince +other Smok 510 sticks
and the Ileaf 80w box mod.

I do mange to get it sitting in one my smok mods and it is great to use but it barely stays in ,keeps popping out.

Not sure if i’ve been sold a dodgy model ,i did buy it from what i ‘m pretty sure is a reputable website ,same site i’ve used in the past.

  3. Can this sort of tank be fitted to a Kanger K-Box Mini? I’m relatively new to the sub-ohm scene & am really quite enjoying my Subtank sitting atop my K-Box, but would like to try something a little ‘heavier-hitting’. I have to inhale for the full ten seconds to get a decent lungful & even more ‘vapour-per-blast’ would be nice – a tank like this would certainly seem to fit the bill, but would I also need a more powerful mod? (The K-Box ramps up to 80W, IIRC)

Also, congrats on finally kicking the disgusting habit of analogues! When I meet with still-smoking friends, I can only imagine how much I must have stunk to my non-smoking ones! Even going into a smoking household for a short time, I come out humming & can smell it on my clothes for days!

    • Hi there!
The one thing about the Mesh Pro is it is a huge tank – the Resin version is 28mm wide at the airflow ring – the Carbon Fibre version is more like 25mm so what ever mod you use it on will need to be wide enough if you don’t want it to over hang.
I find the double coils on the mesh pro to be happy about 70-75W which is do-able with the Kanger but will really hammer the battery life really.
So might be worth you looking into a dual battery mod I think.

Another (and cheaper than a new mod) idea is something like the Uwell Nunchaku tank (only needs like 40W and lovely flavour) so this could work well with the K box – great tank that is. Also if you want a mesh tank the Freemax Fireluke Mesh (https://www.ecigclick.co.uk/freemax-fireluke-mesh-tank-review/) and Geekvape Alpha (https://www.ecigclick.co.uk/geekvape-alpha-sub-ohm-tank-review/) are happy at 60W (ish) so that might be less strain on the K Box. Just check the minimum resistance the mod will accept – the Fireluke Mesh is only 0.15 ohm so it might moan.

Sadly I have had a bit of a blip with the ciggies – and semi back on them again but still vaping too so fingers crossed just get over this hurdle and be off them again!
But you are so right you can smell it a mile off when you stop smoking cant you hahaha!

Have a look round at some dual battery mods to pair with the Freemax tank and you will have a lovely set up – any advice on good mods you want just shout up and look through some we have reviewed.

  4. Do they leak ??
Which rescue? I was a transporter all over the UK but gave up due to health problems. My local is linbee dog rehoming kennels. X

    • Hiya Lynne

Well I only had one leak from my resin Mesh Pro and that was cured by changing the coil – I also have a Carbon Fibre version and that hasn’t leaked at all.

My local rescue is Hilbrae in Shropshire – they are amazing!

It is so rewarding to spend time with the doggies – I haven’t been much in the last 6 months due to life and health issues. I wasn’t able to walk the dogs so I would sit with some of the scared or weak ones and have cuddles and stuff them with treats hehe! My favourites are the Staffies – despite humans treating them terribly they still love us. I know I wouldn’t want to trust a human again!

Thank you for all you did for the doggies and I am sure I have heard of Linbee!

  5. I have started using this tank and the double mesh coil but it has started changing the color of my juice. Should I be concerned. It went from clear to a dirty brown color.
